Do you ever remember the first time your tried to remove the hair from your body? I do and I was only 13 years old . I had blonde hairs , fine which most people struggled to notice but I noticed them and they bothered me somewhat at that delicate age where the other girls were becoming woman . Unfortunately , teenage girls seem to want to become older in the mind and body than they actually are until they finally realise they grew up to fast when they suddenly hit their 30's. My Aunt had told me I was not allowed to shave my legs as they would grow back thicker and darker but being so impatient , I secretly bought myself some hair removing cream that did not include any shaving at all with my own pocket money . It only cost me about £1 or something like that so was very affordable to buy. It was a simple cream , I had to put it on the area where there was hairs (my legs) then wait for 10 minutes before washing it off, which in turn removed my hairs at the same time. I used this method as my first ever hair removal routine and for a few months I thought I was getting away with it without my Aunt knowing but later on I found out the cucumber scent it had was giving it away every time I used it , she secretly played along making me feel independent because the hair removing process was safe to use and she had no concerns unlike the shaving which I could cut myself if not careful. Back then , the hair removal brand was used regular and to this day it still is nearly 20 years on. Nair! Today , Nair has a new range of products, a far cry away from the Cucumber one they used to have with its strong scent and plain packaging and I thought it only fare to give them a try. Nair Washable Roll-On Wax with Argan Oil & Orange Blossom . What do they say about this product? Nair Argan Oil Roll-on, combines a practical, washable, reusable Roll-on applicator and an exclusive, ultra-effective formula that can be rinsed in water. Cost - £12.99 Available from Boots What do you get ?
Ingredients - Colophonium, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Triethanolamine, Parfum, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Citrus Aurantium Amara Flower Extract, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Benzyl Salicylate, Citronellol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Linalool How to use - Heats up in the microwave in less than 1 minute 1. Slowly roll the applicator along the area to be waxed in the direction of hair growth in order to apply a thin layer of wax. The layer of wax must not exceed the length of one strip. 2. Quickly place the non-woven strip onto the layer of wax and smooth it firmly in the direction of hair growth. 3. Hold the skin taut with one hand and pick up the bottom of the strip with the other. Rapidly remove the strip in a brisk movement in the opposite direction to application. Being a virgin to waxing, I have to admit , I was terrified, especially as the only thing I knew were razors and creams . I had heard so many horrid stories of waxing at home especially the pain it has caused when not done properly. Preparing myself with a short or alcohol during my Christmas week , I took the leap and ran t the bathroom and got myself all prepared . My thoughts - When it comes to removing hair , it is the one thing in my beauty routine I absolute hate with a passion, unlike polishing my nails or enjoying a relaxing face mask, hair removal is not only time consuming but also painful at times, especially when it is waxing. When Ii read about hot wax, My skin literally sinks into its own skin fearing it will burn , I am totally new to the waxing world and this was a true test of my strength lol. The Roll on wax says that it lasts up to 4 weeks and to be honest that is the whole reason I wanted to give it a go due to the fact it was coming up Christmas and New Year. It took me 25 seconds to heat the wax in the microwave which may not seem long at all but when you are wanting the hair removal to be as quick as possible it is an amazing fast time in my opinion. The instructions were very clear to read and considering this is quite cheap and affordable the product worked very well for my first attempt. I could see and feel a difference after using the product and to be fair although I knew that it was for removing the hairs I never thought my legs would look so shiny and conditioned afterwards, Ii think the Argon Oil made a lot of difference to the overall result. My legs felt very soft and smooth and it did in fact leave no strays which I was expecting . My hairs are quite thick so for me this actually surprised me and I was left with no sticky residue at the end . I found the more time you took to ensure it was on evenly then pulling at it quickly , gave the best results . For me , I honestly would use this again . Body wax Strips What they say about the product - Nair Argan Oil Body Wax Strips Cost - £6.69 Available from Boots How to use - 1. Wash the area to be waxed with mild soap and water (do not take a bath). Dry thoroughly. If the climate is hot and humid, lightly dust the area to be waxed with powder. 2. Cleanse the skin to be waxed using Nair Pre-Wipes. Allow skin to dry thoroughly. 3. Take a wax strip and rub it gently between your hands to soften the wax. When the Nair logos have disappeared across the entire strip, the wax is ready to use. 4. Starting at the corners, peel the 2 halves of the strips apart slowly so that you have two separate strips with wax evenly distributed on each half. 5. Apply one half of the strip to the area where hair is to be removed, in the direction of hair growth. Smooth down with your hand. 6. Holding the skin taut, quickly pull off the strip in the opposite direction, parallel to the skin, not up and away from the body. Holding the skin taut during wax removal from the bikini area is very Important to minimise bruising. 7. The same strip can be reused by folding in-half on itself and rubbing between the palms, before unfolding. 8. After waxing is complete, use a Nair Post-Wipe to help soothe and moisturise the skin after waxing and to remove any wax residue. Avoid hot baths and sunbathing for at least 24 hours. After underarm waxing, do not use a deodorant or anti-perspirant for at least 24 hours. Ingredients - Wax Strips: Triethylene Glycol Rosinate, Glyceryl Rosinate, Hydrogenated Microcrystalline Wax, Parfum, Mica, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Amyl Cinnamal, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Geraniol, Coumarin, CI 77891, CI 77491 Pre-Wipes: Aqua, Alcohol Denat., Propylene Glycol, Mentha Arvensis Extract, Mentha Arvensis Leaf Oil, Benzalkonium Chloride, Linalool, Limonene Post-Wipes: Paraffinum Liquidum, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Isopropyl Myristate, Phenethyl Alcohol, Caprylyl Glycol, Bisabolol, Glycine Soja Oil, Parfum, Benzyl Salicylate, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Farnesol, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Linalool, Citronellol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Eugenol, Chamomilla Recutita Extract, BHT, Tocopherol My thoughts - So having one leg done with the roll on , I decided to go brave and try the body strips on the second leg hoping for it to give the same result. I actually preferred these to the roll on as they seemed easier to apply . Having the strips there and ready to use , it made the whole process quick and easy and the results were better than I had with the roll on. I think these would be perfect to take on trips for those rushing around hotel nights away and last minute evenings out. The fact that they come with cooling wipes made it easier for me as I did get a little redness but not so that it was sore or irritated and I think the cooling wipes I had used previous to waxing helped . I would actually prefer to use the strips more often now I have given these ago and becasue they have quite a few in the pack I will save myself money and need to remove hair a lot less. Shower Power Cream - What they say about this product - Nair Argan Oil Shower Power Cream works during showering for handy, quick & effective hair removal. The unique formula containing Argan Oil, Jojoba Oil and Cocoa Butter helps to leave your skin feeling softer and smoother. Cost - £6.69 Available from Boots How to use - 1. In the shower, leave the cream on the skin for at least 3 minutes; try to avoid excessive exposure to water on the areas which are covered with the cream. 3. After 3 minutes, test a small area with the spatula. If the hair does not come away from the test area easily, leave for a few minutes longer do not exceed 10 minutes in all. 4. Remove the cream using the spatula, then rinse the area immediately with plenty of warm water to remove all traces of the cream. Do not rub or use soap. Ingredients - Aqua, Paraffinum Liquidum, Cetearyl Alcohol, Calcium Thioglycolate, Calcium Hydroxide, Ceteareth-20, Sodium Hydroxide, Parfum, Silica, Theobroma Cacao Butter, Argania Spinosa Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis Oil, Amyl Cinnamal, Geraniol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Butylphenyl Methylpropional My thoughts - Having used the hair removing cream previously before but many years ago , I was a little unsure as to whether it would be a different experience. Well first of all there was no cucumber scent . In fact it was milder by far compared to the older version back in the 90's. I do remember back then, it took me about three attempts of applying cream for around 30 minutes instead of the instructed 10 or 15 minutes and usually most of them would still be attached so I would be left with patches to be done afterwards lol. Being mum to 7 it is a rare occasion having the time to enjoy a long soak in the bath and to be honest who sits in a bath of water removing hair anyway, it just seems disgusting to me. This is meant for shower use and I totally agree that It should be too. After all , it is meant for fast hair removal that is easy and effective . I applied the cream to my legs, left it on for a 10 minutes then tested a small area to see if the process had worked by using the spatula provided to gently scrape away the cream from the leg. Jumping in the shower most of the hair were washed away with no need to touch the legs but there was a couple of areas that had to be helped with the spatula to help loosen the hairs a little . Considering this is meant for a quick hair removal process, I found this to me more time consuming than the others which is no good for me at all and having to redo areas that had not been stripped of hairs in areas , it made it twice the pain. It still does not work for me unfortunately , maybe this will always be a teenagers products. Ok I just did lol, but hey who cares , we all get it at some time and it is no worry at all to remove , just what ever you do , do not shave it . Believe me when you find your first little hair on that top lip it will be the first thing you run to do but don't. I have no intentions of ever leaving them alone and having these little quick strips to pop on and pull of when I spot one in the mirror on a morning I am in a rush with. Having the cooling strips and moisturising wipes for use alongside these are a great benefactor also and I do believe this is what makes them fantastic due to the fact I can do this anytime and not worry about a sore red top lip . So what do you think about hair removal, how do you remove those unwanted hairs, shaving, waxing, creams? Let me know and I will see you again soon with some more posts shortly . These products were won in an online competition through Nair themselves over on twitter .
