Ruby Hammer states - Since it launched, I’ve gone through bottles of this! It’s got the richness of oil without feeling greasy and sinks into my skin quickly. I use it everywhere – neck, décolleté, face – before I apply moisturiser morning and night. It keeps my skin bolstered from the elements and when I use it regularly my skin looks fabulous – even if I do say so myself! Another bonus – it smells amazing. Needless to say I was very excited about trying this ,it is £55 and not something I would just buy on a whim . So as I was so excited , I checked out a few reviews from some lovely bloggers who I thought may bring some honest information and Caroline Hirons was the negative one I found which seemed to bring a huge debate . Caroline Hirons states - ''It didn't occur to me that something from a brand that prides itself on plant extracts would contain mineral oil. I checked the box and sure enough - the oil component of Double Serum is mineral oil. I'm not about to slather it in mineral oil - no matter how much I love Clarins - and I DO - I really LOVE Clarins. '' I read on further to others comments and many were wondering why this lady was so against mineral oil but I have to say we all have our own opinions and if you expect a brand to be plant extracts then why have they put Mineral oil in their product , why not use something from a plant instead ? I have to kind of agree with her morals of the brand. However, for me it is something what minor to worry about especially as it seems there is not so much to actually worry about for me. Mineral oil is a colourless and odourless , inexpensive oil that is found commonly in cosmetics like
It can be used on eyelashes to prevent brittleness and breaking and in cold creams, is also used to remove cream make-up and temporary tattoos. One of the common concerns regarding the use of mineral oil is its presence on several lists of comedogenic substances. Non-comedogenic means that a substance or product has not been shown to cause acne. Conversely, comedogenic substances however can cause an acne-like allergic reaction and aggravate existing symptoms of acne vulgaris. So now we have that out fo the way let me tell you what Ii actually think of the product and how it has worked for me - Price - I already discussed this above. The price for me is steep , especially for those on a small budget. Packaging - I absolutely love the double seperate pump action bottle. One is a Hydric system, and the other the Lipidic system. I love that it is easy to use and super hygenic. I just hope the pumps reach the bottom of the product so no product is wasted, I hate waste. Ingredients - Although Clarins are trying to be all natural and use plant extracts, The ingredients or Mineral oil and Fragrance is somewhat dissapointing (not to me)but for those who wish their products to be all natural and organic. I have lately been getting myself into the TONING routine with this product, something I always forgot about previously which has had dyer consequences on the lines appearing on my forehead and around the eyes. Well this is what I am blaming anyway. Since having it , I have used this every day morning and night Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise My pigmentation , appearing lines and basically dull looking skin has made me realise I have done nothing but ignore the vitality of using a toner for my skin.
I am actually quite disappointed with myself for not learning earlier the importance or a serum or toner but am now so pleased I am as I can already see a difference after just one week of using this . The serum has been on the market for some time but this actually has a new formula with more targeted action. On areas on my face , I can sometimes have oily patches but in others I find dry patches. I never have breakouts but to be honest the more worrying thing for me is combating the lines on my forehead and around the eyes and after using this for just over a week I have found that they have become less dominant and making my makeup look a lot more smoother on my skin which is also a great plus for me . This has meant I am needing less products and I am feeling more confident in wearing none or very little . Perfect for summer as I do not want to be wearing anything really. I am only needing 2 pumps of this product for each use meaning it is going to last quite a long time . It is said not to rub this on or around your face but to rub in your hands then press onto your skin firmly on the areas you are trying to concentrate on mostly or all if you feel it is needed. My skin is feeling so much softer and I can see a noticeable difference in the lines on my head being reduced or toned . My skin has always been quite uneven toned but slowly this is brightening my face and making my skin look even and more radiant, hence me been able to walk out sometimes with nothing but a moisturiser on lately. The thing I love most about this other than the fact it is working for me as it should be is the fact that the scent is actually very calming. It is helping me relax more in a night time especially. The serum is not like most serums , it is not thick but more a face oil feel to it, but it does not take long to absorb into the skin and my skin is not left feeling oily afterwards. I am no longer struggling with dry areas on my face which is amazing as it has been my biggest complaint this past two months after the wintery weather took its toll on me . So pleased . I have stopped using primer . Honestly I used to religiously use it but I have not needed it since using this. My makeup just looks so much better, smoother and my pores can rarely be seen. The only thing I would say is - It is never to late to replenish what is truly believable , especially when a serum like Clarins Double serum can restore the younger skin you once had. Have you tried this product, do you use a serum?

It looks interesting, I am not sure about the mineral oils though I would have to read up about it more to make an informed decision.

Looks interesting but I would balk at the price tag tbh. Minerals have a wonderful way of giving your skin a sheen, so I would expect it to be good though.

Before kids I wouldn't have had any issue spending that much, but now I just don't have that spare

That looks like a fantastic product! I tend to make my own masks out of coffee grounds, olive oil, honey, and avocados, so I don't really buy any man-made anti aging products :)

My friend's always on at me to start using serum, as she swears by it. I certainly couldn't stretch to £55, but I'll keep an eye out for special offers....

there are always new brands and old coming up with something new or improved, its nice to see them battling it out but clarins seem to have a very good reputation x

What a great post and a thorough review too. I'd love to try it, Clarins products are usually very good - just a tad pricey!
