About Mary Jean - Mary Jean is a family run business in the Highlands of Scotland. Mary Jean had a father who suffered from Dermatitis and after making her own soaps made with essential oils and blends found that it helped and relieved his skin condition. Mary Jean also made her own soaps and found her family and friends loved them to, which is what gave her the idea to expand her ideas onto making creams, butters, scrubs and lotions. She soon found that she could make a business of it and that is when Mary Jean came up with the brand. The brand believe that the unique balance of vitamin rich oils such as Apricot, Safflower & Macadamia Nut, set their skincare range as different ,due to being natural , fresh and handmade. Mary Jean has the batches made in small doses and believes this is what makes them fresh and gives the skin the best it deserves. This product is all natural, free from synthetic chemicals such as SLS/SLES surfactants, Parabens, Bleaching Agents and silicates. How to use - You need to apply to damp skin then work into skin with gentle circular movement, once the area has been exfoliated with the body scrub , rinse off with warm water. It is advised that you only use this once a week, or if you have dry skin once a fortnight. My conclusion - This product is something I felt very excited about . The blend of Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Peel Oil and Vanilla Planifolia makes this appealing to me. I always look for a fresh aroma and natural scent in my products especially in my bath routines. The mix of sugar and salt and the mixture of the natural oils make this scrub a soft yet suitable scrub for my skin . My skin is left feeling soft and nourished and the aroma is less dominant as the day goes on . I love this scrub and it has prepared my skin perfectly for the summer days to come. Considering the ingredient shows olive oil , my skin is not left feeling greasy but I did notice my skin looked more glowing , like it had been rejuvenated from a healthy exfoliation. My conlusion - Living in a small village surrounded by beautiful scenery and fields filled with some fabulous farms and its animals can be lovely at times but when the hot summer sun bursts on our area it can become some what of a nuisance. As you may already have guessed the smell of the farmers harvesting their fields can be some what fresh but with it comes those pesky little midgies and you can find yourself having a lovely strol through the village and being attacked by thousands of midgies . For some reason , blood sucking insects love my blood. I have always had a fear of the summer especially when I remember going abroad to Turkey and been literally sucked to death by Mosquitos and came home with two very nastly bites on my foot which actually turned black for three months and looked as though it had burried itself under my skin. My mam and dad used to buy a product in Turkey called lemon cologne and from that I have always remember how effective it was as they never came back bitten and so I used it when I was there last and never got nibbled at once by the pesky things. It seemed to me that it was the lemon they did not like and unfortunately could not find it at home in the UK so depended on the parents bringing some home in gallons lol. Unfortunately , our family have not been their for a few years now and we have ran out of the famous saviour but This is where Mary Jean has come to my rescue. With the same ingredient as the cologne, the lotion is a blend of natural lemon and helps keep them at bay . Being a lotion makes this more appealing though and gives you a cooling effect especially in the hot weather so you get the extra benefits wearing this as an every day moisturiser. We have only had a couple of summer sun days so far this year but already I can see that the insects are keeping out of my way and feel comfortable that I wont be bitten this year . The lotion absorbs quickly into the skin and because it is natural does not leave a greasy feel afterwards. So if you are in need of a rejuvenating body scrub or even a refreshing lotion to keep the insects at bay and also keep you cool this summer then try these two products from the Mary Jean website . There are many more products available - soap Bath bombs, lotions and bath salts body cream/butters, lipbalms, facemasks, scrubs Gift sets Have you tried this brand, will you ? Let me know.

This range sounds really brilliant, especially the anti midge repellant. My son and I both have sensitive skin, and honestly these sound like they might be just the thing for us! Thank you

That sounds absolutely divine, both the smell and the good feeling it's given your skin. I love that you included the details of how the company started xx

These products sound fabulous, especially the lemon-scented insect repellent. I wonder if they're sold anywhere apart from on their website?
