We recommend you only use Scholl Velvet Smooth Micralumina™ Roller Heads with this product. So the summer is upon us, well we hope . I always like to walk either bare foot in the garden or on the beach and when you have patches of dry skin that can be visible to others it can sometimes make you feel a little self concious and there have been summers where I have had to just wear shoes to hide them away. This year I have decided I am not going to any longer and thankfully Scholl have brought out a new device to help with this problem. Well that is what I am hoping. I do not want to be going to salons and paying a fortune , neither do I want to pay for weekly doses of products to cure the problem . I am really hoping this helps , and with having such a large roller that looks very solid, this should last a lot longer than any cream or oil and even better effect than a stone (those things never worked for me ). So why do we get that hard skin on our feet ? Walking makes the skin harden as each time your foot makes a stand it puts pressure on your feet . As we all know , our own body has many ways of fighting against things like diseases and other problems like this so our body produces the hard skin where the foot is suffering to protect it. Hard skin is nothing to worry about but it can get uncomfortable or ugly looking , so people tend to either hide it or try to make it better. Using a foot cream or a moisturiser may help you keep soft and smooth feet for longer. Regular use of devices such as electric Scholl Express Pedi hard skin remover will keep your feet in good condition. First Impressions - My first impressions are not so great. The packaging is that horrible plastic. I hate anything that is packaged in this way. It makes things look cheap and I find a nice box looks loads better plus this plastic always has a tendency to rip my hands to shreds as I try to retrieve the product inside. A closer look! Scholl say that their velvet smooth foot file has a Ergonomically shaped soft touch handle but what they do not tell you is that the thing is huge. I mean really ! I have quite small hands and can hardly get a grip of this thing. It is way too chunky for my liking and am sure even those who have larger hands would agree its quite bizarre . There is also a slight problem with the guard that is meant to fit over the roller it self. For some reason it is very loose and does not hold well onto the handle at all. I would say it sits on it but does not click tightly onto it which makes me think at some point I am either going to lose it or it will just fall of if it even gets a slight movement. So this is something I definitely can not leave on my bathroom side where my smaller children are. On my first look at the roller itself , I felt a little scared as it looked rather harsh, I just hoped the roller did not go at a fast speed or hurt as my feet are very sensitive and this thing actually looks quite scary, especially if your someone who is like me and not used to electronic devices for feet. So what happened ? First of all I made sure to read all the instructions which seemed easy to understand and luckily the pedi already came with the batteries included . I am terrible for not having spares. The precautions advised were that this was to be kept out the way of children , which I most certainly have done due to having no security cover for the roller. It says that it is to be used on hard skin on the feet only and to only use dry. I do have small amounts of hard skin on the heels of my feed but not much . I basically just went for it, feeling nervous and all . I absolutely hate feet , even the prettiest of feet. So the thought of using such a device was already a scary one for me. It was very easy to use. Simple really! All I had to do was turn on the device by twisting the silver ring . It was not stiff and easy to do. Just one speed setting made me wary though , I honestly thought something like this would have a fast and slow option. Instructions told me to gently glide the roller onto the hard skin gently and so I did with extra carefulness to my sensitive ticklish feet. Here goes...... Warning gross feet alert....up close shots! This result is only after one 5 minute gentle use. I can see a clear result and it has reduced the look of that hardened skin that appears in the before picture but my feet still need some moisturising so I need to add the serum to see how it will help the look of my feet. Well it does seem to make a lot of difference and I for one am over the moon with the results.
It did not hurt at all, did not even tickle which I was worried about and it does exactly what it says. The foot file is quite noisy , so it is best not to do as I did and have it in use during the soaps , it was driving my husband insane during the crucial Eastenders big headline. I am going to be using this on a regular basis on both feet until it is time to reveal those feet in summer. This year I won't be hiding them away. Over all I am very pleased with the results. I do however think this product is over priced and over sized . Have you or will you be trying this product?

I wish I could attend to my own feet, however I can't bend enough to reach them properly. I have a chiropodist come into my home every six weeks. She uses a buzzing hand-held machine to remove hard skin.

Sounds like it could be really useful. But is it much more effective than a plain old (very cheap) pumice stone?

I am in the process of testing one of these. It is expensive but I am impressed so far, it is noisy but it doesn't really bother me too much. The serum is great! x

I have type 1 diabetes and can't find any info on why this product is unsuitable for me. I have regular professional pedicures with no problems. I have extremely dry feet especially on the heels and my big toes down to the balls of my feet but no cracked skin. Does anyone have an explanation as to why I shouldn't use these products?
