Hair 2014  - How will you be wearing yours?

This past year my hair has gone through soo many changes.
The year began with my hair being ruined by a hair dye I had used many years beforehand and I had been waiting patiently for it to grow out.

Last Mothers Day I was treated to a trip to the hairdressers L'Oreal Professionals to treat , cut and style my hair and so after all those years of growing my damaged hair I have been looking forward to the many styles available to me now I was no longer in hiding.

Woo hoo I now have my natural hair and theres no damage to be seen. Just thick and long , just how I wanted it to be .

I have decided this year to get it sorted in a way I could handle .
Each day I wake up and spend a lifetime brushing the tats out of the back of my head from sleeping. I have tried satin/silk pillowcases, I have tried brushing my hair first thing in the morning while hair is warm and easier to brush and many a hair product and brush that promises me that I will no longer suffer but they simply failed.

Last week Ii was moaning soo much that my husband decided to make me an appointment and I finally went and got the chop.

I had no idea what I was wanting . I looked through google hairstyles images and the only thing I seemed to like the look of was the long hair with short layers.

My reason for this is because every year I either ask them to cut it short to my shoulders or all one length and just a trim of the ends. This year Ii wanted something different. I needed something doing with that fluff ball on the back of my head and I had promised the husband I would not shave or cut all my hair of which was very much a great idea to me lol.

I decided I wanted to keep the length but big hair was definately beginning to get me down so therefore thinning it out somehow was my only option.

I walked into the hairdressers and told them what I wanted doing and she looked at me and said

''Really, you want to chop all your hair off, you will regret it , it won't be soo easy to manage''.

So I tell her to just do what I asked in a nice way and explained the con's of having soo much hair and struggling to brush it and keep it looking great when you have soo many kids to sort out before yourself on a morning and she carried on .

I just kept seeing her lift bundles of my hair on my head and chop around 10 inches from each bundle she grabbed then throw it to the floor. It looked soo much hair I nearly felt guilty  but I had to do it or I would end up walking out with all that hair again and when you go once a year to the hairdressers you may as well come out with something totally different to the norm.

As the hair piled up in a huge heap on the floor , I think the lady had then realised how much I actually had. See I have this habbit of washing and straightening my hair before getting it chopped and so they never see the full umph oh the fur ball till they get chopping of spraying it and it starts to expand back to its original self lol.
She described my hair as a beautiful thick head of hair but the back of my hair which I had been telling her was giving me problems was a different texture to the rest of my hair. She said all of my under hair was like soft new hair and the top was like cotton wool, soft but really thick like cotton wool. My own description is that it feels like the thick hairs on my german sheperd dog lol.

Eventually half hour later I was all done. I had no intentions to colour it after the trouble I had before and there was no way I was going to sit and have it style when the gale force winds were going to blow me home and ruin anyway so it was quick and I payed only £10 and was on my way. (By the way I have never payed less than £35 to get my hair done ), I was over the moon for saving the pennies and my husband was extra surprised especially when he text me to say

''Why do I get the feeling I will need to come with more cash and you are going to cost me a fortune ''

I got in the house with a hot cup of tea ready waiting for me constantly running my fingers through my hair wondering where it had all gone but pleased I had finally done it.

So here is my new thinner hair , I wanted to leave it till today and wash it so you could see the difference as I had flattened it with straightening it yesterday. I could not see alot of difference myself untill letting it fluff out to its natural self lol.

What do you think, should I have left it to be thick , do I look any different?

Do you feel you need to do something different with your hair?

I think it looks great! It is always such a big decision deciding to get your hair cut, but I bet you feel great! :)

Last year around this time I chopped off 13 and 1/2 inches of my hair. It was a huge change but much needed. It's getting longer now but this just makes me want to keep it short! It looks amazing!

Your hair looks great. I also have really thick hair. It's relatively short now but it still takes the hairdresser a good 20 minutes to blow dry.
