Look what came in the post.............

Remington Silk Waving Wand
The professional waving wand for soft and silky waves

I can tell you now, there has been many occasions  where I have went out and bought curling tongs or wands and not one of them have worked for me, I never seem to get that lovely curl and I think it is because I have very thick  and heavy hair.My hair has a natural wave already in it but it never looks great in a good way, just a fuzzy mess.

When I found out I had won this waving wand from a competition I had entered a couple of weeks ago, I was actually quite excited considering I had never had any luck in the past with them but due to seeing reviews and vlogs that showed instant results  with no effort at all. I really wanted this to tame my natural waves and make them look nice.

This Thursday I have a funeral to go to .
My uncle passed away last week and it came as quite a shock to the family.
We lost our mam nearly 10yrs ago now and him and her were always rather close living so near to each other. Our family used to always be so close and it is rather a large one , it just seems the past few years we are losing some amazing people in it.
He was a great man and always tried to help others. He had just brought his book out a few weeks earlier telling us of his passed life living and working as a Navy diver and getting through the air raid years. It is always sad when we lose someone but I decided straight away I wanted to pay my respects to him , don't think any of us will forget his contagious laugh.

So anyway , it has been a case of finding something to wear for his Funeral and I have always been a nightmare for clothes shopping ,so my husband has took himself of to the Metrocentre in Gateshead to try and figure something out for me.
It is nice when you can have someone else do it for you I suppose, after all he knows fine well if I went myself I would walk around the shops for 8 hours and end up buying an outfit from the very first shop I went in . I am that type of person, terrible I am.
I will let you know what he has picked when he returns.

I was also hoping to do something a little different with my hair other than straightening it. I think straightening my hair has  been my only style for the past god knows how many years and I am getting rather bored with it to be honest.

I have a lot of volume in my hair already so I am not looking for any extra this week in particular, I think its just a nice shape and texture I am after instead of being straight .

The Remington Silk Waving Wand can be bought from Boots for only £24.99 at the moment saving you £10 .

You get inside each box-
  • 16mm x 26mm elliptical barrel for beautiful effortless waves
  • Digital display 120°C - 220°C
  • Temperature control lock funtion
  • Fast, 30 second heat up
  • Cool tip
  • Automatic safety shut off
  • Protective glove
  • Heat proof pouch
  • 3m salon length swivel cord

I do not think that is expensive at all considering my hair straighteners have cost me over £100 many times and previous bought styling wands have cost me around £70 .

I think the first thing that has caught my attention with this wand in particular is the fact that it has temperature choice.
I need high heat for my hair but I know this would be great for others who wish to use a low heat or have thinner, finer hair.
The Remington Silk Waving Wand has been designed to give you that professional look which is achievable in the comfort of your own home .

I have spent hours trying to curl my hair and still not achieved  the look I desire so let us have a go and see what happens when I test this fabulous looking product out.

My conclusion-

Ok so I had high expectations after watching peoples videos reviews of this product and I can honestly say , I am so impressed.
First of all I applied a heat defence spray before attempting to do this as I was scared that the high heat would damage my hair.

You are supplied with a glove, just like the pair you would wear in the winter , nothing special about it. This is just to help your hand safe whilst you wrap the hair around the wand without burning yourself.
The wand was very light although a little long in length but manageable and much needed for my long hair.

I did get a huge shock when I got the Waving wand a little  too close to my forehead and burnt it . The heat of this thing is ridiculously hot, I also caught my thumb through the glove.
This is extremely hot and should be not left alone at all unattended.

I was worried about missing areas of the head that I could not reach and also the top half of hair has been cut to give a short layer effect , so I was unsure if this area would be able to work with the wand.
Lucky for me though you can see it worked on even the shortest of hair areas which I am very happy with.

I seperated my hair into sections and wrapped each individually around the wand for no longer than 10 seconds. 10 seconds is the recommended time needed to give you the wave effect and I honestly thought that it would not be enough for my heavy hair, fortunately for me it was and once my whole head was finished I gave it a spritz of hairspray to hold it in place .
I had a school meeting to go to just after so I am pleased the finish looked great .

I found this so easy and quick to use, the curls seem to have stayed for the day and its been  8 hours with no looseness of waves.

I am very impressed with this wand and would definitely recommend it to anyone wishing to have natural looking waves or curls in their hair.
It is easy to use, effortless and affordable but my only worry is it is very hot compared to other products I have tried and with the glove they supply the heat goes through and still burns your fingers so I would recommend doubling up on the gloves for sure.

So what do you think, will you be looking at trying the Remington, Silk Waving Wand?

I would love to curlmy hair - it's naturally very wavy but over the years I've tried so many wands and curlers and never quite got the hang of them. Looks lovely

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, I hope your husband got you something lovely to wear. I love having curly hair occassionally as mine is usually really straight so these look like they would really do the trick!

My hair does not do as I want at all, how long did the curls last for, wondering if it is worth a try :)

sorry to hear about your uncle. my hair is so fine, and really straight, so my problem is that it doesn't really hold curls for long unless i do pin curls.

Sorry for your loss xxx

How do these waving wands compare with a pair of tongs (or am I completely out of the loop here?!) I love having curls in my hair and need to invest in a gadget that helps me do that :)

I am sorry for your loss.
The wands looks great. I also have thick wavy hair and have terrible trouble getting it to hold a curl, I have found a diffuser gives a better finish than a curling wand but at that price I would be tempted to try it x
