T.H.X - cheaper than GHD'S  but just as good as .

In October my trusted GHD'S broke on me . I love my hair straightened , it always feels soo much fresher and when you have natural curly ,thick, frizzy hair like mine , they become a life saver.

For the past 10years I have loved GHD'S but they are not cheap and affordable and I was not able to go and grab a pair for Christmas. My husband knew how much I was  in need of some and so on Christmasmas Eve 12.30am , we both ventured to Tesco to grab a quiet Christmas food shop and he sneakily placed the Total Hair Experts Mix It Up Styler in the trolley (along with the Tassimo Machine he was soo wanting as a gift from me).

I was a little jubious of them, thinking they would be useless and time consuming. The straighteners I had previously were GHD's and they are well known for being the best brand out there.
Even with the top brand straighteners my hair takes around 40 minutes to straighten so I was expecting the Total Hair Experts mix it up styler that is exclusive to Tesco to take even longer and more than likely break within the first use or two.

I was pleasently surprised, for £30 , these hair straighteners took me only 10 minutes to complete straightening my hair and they have been used more than once lol, infact everyday since.

Here is the advert for the brand

You can buy them for £30 here at Tesco.
The packaging is very appealing . I love the bright yellow tone against the classic , glossy black box with the white bold naming of the brand standing out and easy to read.

There is alot of information clearly written on the box to see before you make the purchase to ensure its the right one for you. Dont you just hate it when you open a product for the instructions and they have that hidden information you needed most before buying it?, a bit like the fryer I bought , I like the lid to be left closed and it was only when I opened it all up the instruction manuel told me LID MUST BE OFF.......... grrrrr). So seeing everything on the box you need to know before buying is a great plus for me.

Total Hair Experts mix it up styler has Nano- ceramic plates - this is meant to be so you dont get static hair for a sleek look and to be honest , my hair did feel a little static but not as much as I had with previous straighteners.

They have variable heat control of up to 220℃, having the option to turn the heat up and down meaning they are perfect for all hair types thin hair or really thick hair like mine. They heat up really fast and come with a storage bag.

They claim to

''Allow you to create sleek straight hair or curly locks''

My curling attempts:-
Honestly I have no idea where to start when it comes to curling my hair with stylers and I did have a go but it was an epic fail for me, I just have way to much hair on my head and not the time or patience to make it work.

My hair felt soft and and looked straight as ever. There was no harshness of pulling hair or awkwardness in using the styler.

The thing I love about these are the fact they have that extra safety issue with the Auto switch off , so after 30 minutes they will automatically turn off just to give you that extra piece of mind  (the amount of times I have walked out worried if I had left my stylers or other appliances on is more than I can count on my hand).

The curved outer housing makes it easy and versatile to use . they are light and easy to handle.

The only thing I was dissapointed in was that there was not a heat proof mat to lay them on whilst cooling or styling my hair . You do get a storage bag in that amazing bright yellow but I keep mine in the original box and would have preferred the heat proof mat.

So I will not be paying a fortune for GHD's no more ,these hair straighteners have shortened my styling time by a whole half hour and they feel great to use . The price is great, its affordable and I dont have as much static when styling my hair . I will however invest in a heat proof mat but I will still save money .

Has anyone tried these before, maybe you tried the other appliances, if so let me know your thoughts on how you found the product or if you be making a purchase?

I dread the day that my GHDs give up on me - I bought them when times were a lot easier, and I didn't think anything of spending £100 on straighteners! Nowadays that is just unthinkable, so I would have to do something similar to you and find the best alternatives I can for the least amount of money!

It's good to know that you got on so well with these - I think times have changed slightly and the cheaper alternatives to GHDs are probably up to a bit more than they used to be when GHDs were new and really the only ones doing what we needed them to - get hot and make our hair straight!

Thanks for the recommendation, anyway, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that my GHDs will keep on working, but if they don't, I'll definitely take a look at THX!

I was exactly the same , I felt totally lost, If only the guarentee lasted longer lol. , I have tried others before I had my GHD's but nothing were as affordable as these nor did they do their job as quickly , my hair is soo thick it usually takes forever , im wizzing through it now with in 10 minutes im done and no need to use frizz products because of the nano plates , thankyou for your comment, hope your stylers stay trusty for years to come.

Me neither , I had to search for it once I got home . It was a lucky find and the price has not budged either , I have also now learned , you dont need to pay a fortune to get good quality. Thankyou for your comment x

Wow I will definitely remember this for when my GHD's pop their clogs as there is no way I could pay £100 for a new pair these days! Great find!

I know , this is why I was soo devestated, the cost of GHD's can be very high and saving over £100 has made me wonder why I had never tried them before. Was a great find. Thankyou for your comment, Hope your stylers stay strong for many years to come mine lasted me 6yrs :)

I had my old GHD's for 9 years, they actually went in the lead, fixable once by an electrician mate but then too worn to do this the next time. I luckily spotted a special on Ebay and got my replacement pair already bought a few months before the end of them. I have tried a few brands and not found them as good for as long.I will bear these in mine as I doubt I would be that lucky again.
