Ok these cold days are becoming a little boring to say the least and I for one need a break from the social media I am continuously on during the day so when I was asked to review a Jigsaw or puzzle as Ravensburger.com call them, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that a New 1000 piece was being sent to me. I can not actually remember the last time I sat down and completed a puzzle, in fact the last one I had this size was back in the 90's so I knew I was being challenged. Ravensburger.com are not new to me, I have children and family games in our home and also a children's jigsaw with the famous Frozen theme that everyone seems to be going crazy over lately (bet you are excited there is another one coming soon ) . As I geared myself up to give the Puzzle a try , I had a feeling , like a need to prepare myself as If I was running a marathon which made me feel like I had failed before I had begun. Lets face it I've never completed one since I was a teenager. So let's take a look at my challenge ahead - Heroes and Heroins 1000 piece Ravensburger Puzzle. Cost - £11.99 Available from Jigswapuzzlesdirect.co.uk What they say about this puzzle - This richly illustrated design is inspired by some of the world's greatest love stories. This unique bookcase is alive with characters taken from over 3000 years of myth, legend, fiction and fact. Our depicted sweethearts are (from top left) Aphrodite and Adonis, Romeo and Juliet, Anne and Gilbert, Antony and Cleopatra, Gatsby and Daisy, Guinevere and Lancelot, Robin and Marion, Marguerite and Armand, Christine and Erik, Heathcliff and Cathy, Elizabeth and Darcy and, finally, Rhett and Scarlett. This jigsaw puzzle has 1000 pieces. Suitable for Adults. 27 x 20in / 70 x 50cm. The scene on this puzzle is a stunning theme of Heroes and Heroins although myself , I can not see why . For me , it looks more of a prince and princess setting which is pictured from a fairytale and it shows different sets through the centuries which is nice to see showing that they are not concentrating on once specific era. The Self-taught artist is American Aimee Stewart and her literature and musical inspired style captivates exciting themes of magical enchantments and detailed portraits. Ravensburger have some amazing quality puzzles and this is definitely a far cry from the tired , dull and rather cheap feeling paper ones I used to enjoy as a teenager. They have an extensive range of designs and you can even pick up 3D puzzles and also ones that light up . I was truly ready to start with the puzzle and prepared my kitchen table for the space I spent the best part of my dinner time separating all of the pieces of edges and inside pieces then started to put the pieces together. Now I do not know if it is me and my terrible puzzle skill , or lack of , but I got the edge finished off to then find an extra piece? I know, it must be my terrible perception of the outside edge and I must have not put it together correctly , I simply can not find where I went wrong, can you? After realising my love for puzzles were just not as I thought it would be (well not at at this difficulty), I decided to wrap it all up and pass it along to my mother in law who enjoys puzzles more and even puts them into frames if she likes them that much. The Puzzle was great fun (well the edge) I think I may be a little impatient for things like this but the puzzle itself was of excellent quality, definitely worth the price .
I think what attracts me most with this design is the magical enchantment in the theme with its electric colouring. I just wish I could actually complete it but at the moment I simply have no patience or space while I am in the process of packing up the house ready for a possible move. What do you think of a good puzzle, do you like a challenge?

I love doing jigsaw puzzles as a family activity. I get bored if I start doing them on my own.

It's the last thing I would ever do. Saying that, I know Ravensburger have the best quality ones :) oh, and the left side looks shorter?! Did you count the pieces down the sides?!

We love puzzles but we always need to use a special puzzle mat to protect our work... few times cats tried to help... it wasn't helpful...
