That's It ''I QUIT''!

On Wednesday 17th December I woke up and suddenly said to my self ''I want to quit''.

Ever since being 15 , I became in a rutt where I got in with the wrong crowd and bad influences became peer pressure .
One of the worse things I have ever done in fact, and my body was the one that would suffer.

Smoking started of at just the odd puff here and there , Usually when in a crowd with friends or family , but eventually I ended up somehow on 30 a day and it simply became habit.

I would light up at every opportunity anywhere and anytime and not only was my body starting to show signs of early ageing, fatigue, continuous ill health , lack of good eating habbits and also low libido but my house was stinking of smoke and I simply began to hate everything I once thought was a treat.

I simply woke up on Wednesday morning and decided that was it , I wanted nothing more to do with those horrible white sticks and and I wanted to make sure that by the end of the year I was already starting to quit for good.

I sent a tweet to Vapestick asking them if the new vapour sticks Ii had heard so much about from friends really did work and within only half an hour they were asking me to give them a try . 

In the past I have tried simple will power and also nicotine patches for example, but they simply had no effect on me, or maybe it was because I merely was not ready.

There used to be a day where I would say that there was no way I would ever quit , even when I lost my mum to cancer, my dad begged me to quit and he himself had quit but I really had no intentions of ever stopping. I used to tell them, ''Its all I have''!

I can not believe I used to say that, looking back now , it seems such a selfish and horrible thing to say ,it was a lie, after all I have my health, a home over my head , food in my belly and an amazing family, ''I have everything''!.

After chatting to Vapestick for the evening they said they would send me their New AVS (Advanced vaping system ) starter kit and amazingly by Thrusday ,it had turned up at my door and what was even spectacular was the fact that not only was there the AVS but also the Refillable Starter kit also which not only meant that I could start quitting but also my husband .

That afternoon when my husband came home, he and I decided to put the fags to one side and test out the new Electronic cigarettes.

I honestly thought I would not even contemplate on stopping until after the stress of Christmas but things seemed to take a massive leap (for me anyway) instantly.

Both systems were completely designed differently and we sat contemplating on whether we could manage the Stop smoking but determined to get started and give it our all.

I first tried the AVS which my husband was using, it had been supplied with already filled Tobacco but I simply did not like the taste of it and my first draw of the AVS made me caugh a little , I took to testing out the refillable Vapestick and due to the kit coming with the same flavouring tobacco with a medium nicotine of 1.8% (far to strong for me although I was a long term smoker ) , my husband took it upon him self to get me a fruity flavour instead and also with a smaller nicotine strength of 1.1%.

The system was very simple to put together and refill and that evening we took great thought in what flavours and strengths suited our needs.

For me , I actually needed only a small 1.1% strength which to me sounded weak at first due to the fact I was heavily smoking cigarettes for 16 years unlike my husband who only up until recent years had started smoking more but was used to rolling his own tobacco and actually smoked less than me but needed a higher strength of 1.8%.

So now that I had my fruity flavour and he had his tobacco flavour , both our strengths had been determined , we were now ready to get started and we were ready.

First of all, both products are exactly the same, except for the fact that one can be re used and refilled and the other can not although the batteries of both the AVS and the Single MAX can be used on either as they fit each other the same, same goes for the chargers of both products so once the AVS had finished and no longer could be used again , the empty tank was thrown away and I used the battery and the charger as my spares for the Single MAX.

The AVS was used by my husband as soon as it arrived through the post .
He immediately began to use it and since then has not picked up a cigarette since.
Unfortunately the AVS is not refillable though so he did have to get a refillable one once it had ran out after a couple of days but not having a break from using the Vapestick products he is now smoke free and becoming a huge fan of the different flavours it comes in.

As you can see they look completely the same but here is where the difference lies.

The Black piece which is the mouthpiece on which you suck on, unscrews off and you will then see the top of the tank.
The refillable tank has a small hole inside unlike the pre filled tank which has a cap on it so you can not top the Vapestick up.

With the refillable tank which is the Single MAX , you unscrew the black mouthpiece from the tank and then fill using one of the flavours desired .
The Liquids come in a small bottle of 10ml with a pointy thin spout which is aimed on the edge of the inside of the tank. You do not fill the visible hole in the tank with the liquid .

We have been trying many different flavours of vapour . 
Tobacco leaf was supplied with both and so it was our first flavour we have tried but although my husband liked it , for me it simply was not to my taste and I wanted to stray away from the tobacco taste altogether which then led me to try other flavours .

We found a local garage which sold different flavours although not both garages were selling the same brand , they all work the same and so we tried

• Cinnammon and Apple
• Cola cubes
• Pear Drops
• Berry Burst
• Rhubbarb
• Golden leaf tobacco

For me , I fell straight for the Berry Burst and the Pear Drops but my husband enjoyed the Tobacco leaf and Rhubarb.

My husband did find that although the same strength , the flavoured fruity vapours were a little less in strength it seemed to him but for me they were perfectly fine, I honestly think he just enjoyed the tobacco smoking flavour as it seemed more realistic.

The battery life lasted me days on end too, usually around 3 -4 days and they were easy to recharge .

The 650mAh MAX battery screwed into the MAX USB charger which was then attatched to your laptop or computer .The USB showed a red light to show it was in need of charging and It took around an hour , sometimes less to fully re charge the battery again which was signalled by the light displayed turning to green to let me know it was fully charged.

The Vapestick is very light in weight to hold and once you get used to not holding it between the two fingers like you would a normal cigarette whilst pressing a button and sucking at the same time, it becomes very easy to find your own comfort .
They look quite smart and I actually love the style and colour of the Vapestick with its lovely blue tank.

When you press the button to inhale the vapour through the mouthpiece, a blue light can be seen on the button itself and also the bottom of the Vapestick which is in the Shape of a V to show it is a Vapestick product.
I have seen a couple of similar products that do the same but I prefer this one as I love the colour and V where some light up red or orange or just a ring style light up .

The mouthpiece itself is very comfortable , I tend to bite on mine and it has not broken so far which is great . 

For this picture I released the Vapour for photograph purposes only, just so you can see that the Vapestick does have a smoke like cloud released when it is used but when used properly it does not leak from the Vapestick mouthpiece unless held upside down and still warm .
The Vapestick does not become hot to hold only the inside of the tank is warmed up to make the vapour itself .

To help keep the Vapestick upright , my husband found a handy little device which cost less than a £1 and comes in various colours but of course I got blue to stick with the Vapestick colours.

When I first started to use the Vapestick, I complained quite a bit because of the ''not having somewhere to put it'' issue.

I often found myself putting it on the coffee table and it ended up been knocked of or rolling onto the floor which to me became tedious at times.

This little rubber Vapestick holder literally saves me from losing it or having it lying around , and although this is not from Vapestick themselves , Vapestick do supply them which I had only realised after purchasing it for £2.99.

So now that a full week and two days has passed , I can proudly say that not one cigarette has passed neither my husbands or my own lips .
What is more , is that we have also bought one for our brother and father and our other brother has also bought himself one seeing how successful the Vapestick has been for us.

Here is a little run down of our first week quitting.

• Day 1- We threw out the cigarettes, ashtrays and rolling tobacco and instantly began to use the Vapesticks. My first impressions were shown with a quick caugh but a second attempt made me a little dizzy, I kept at it untill after a couple of hours I realised I had got used to it and was no longer caughing or over intaking the vapour which then made me realise I had not picked up a cigarette since using it.
• Day 2- The house seemed to stink of smoke although being smokers we could hardly smell it ourselves, we knew others could so we literally spent day 2 washing everything possible and my husband started to repaint the whole house at 6pm on Saturday night , For me the first 24hrs seemed surprisingly easy , we both did not feel the need to pick up a real cigarette at all and although my husband stayed up all night while we slept to re paint the entre house he did not pick up a cigarette either.
• Day 3 - With the house totally bleached and repainted and cleaned , we felt very pleased with ourselves which then made us realise we had gone a full weekend with not smoking , this encouraged us to stay at it.
• Day 4 - We both started to get the itch, or in other words the feeling the need to go grab a real cigarette but with encouragement for each other we stuck to our Vapesticks and kept saying , just keep going and we did and the itch eased off.
• Day 5 - Christmas eves eve, This was my true test , I had to go out in public which was the time I would normally light up a cigarette in the family car on our way to our destination as a habit, we went on our Christmas food shop which I knew would be stressful and surprisingly I managed and because I had the Vapestick with me at all times in my pocket and it does not go against the no smoking in public places law, it enabled me to suck on it if needed even in the middle of the shop, I felt secure I would not run to the nearest newsagents to grab a packet.
• Day 6 - Christmas Eve and the day before our first week had been completed, I think to be honest I was way to busy to realise I had not even wanted to have a cigarette that I forgot About smoking or maybe the fact that I had started to come out of the habit of my routines I used to clearly have with smoking , I seem to be having much more time on my hands , its amazing how much time is wasted sparking up a cigarette, it really is not just 5 minutes here and there . I also started to get a slight headache on day 6, I am not sure if this was due to the toxins in cigarettes I was used to having daily leaving me with a craving of some sort but now that it had been 6 days and not having all those nasty chemicals in my body , I knew it felt like a good sign not something to worry about . It soon passed.
• Day 7 - Christmas day and the day that alcohol seems to be passing the lips more than usual at all times of the day ( Christmas day seems to be the only day that no one matters what time it is , anytime is allowed for alcohol just that one day a year lol), luckily for me I did not seem to be bothered but my husband certainly took advantage and although he seemed drunk most of the day he not once turned to the real thing and the same went for me , we simply enjoyed our first Christmas in 16 years smoke free and it felt like the best Christmas gift anyone could have given to us.
• Day 8 - Boxing day is always a big day in our family, it seems to be the big event for our family and every year we all gather to the parents and pass around gifts, eat loads , drink loads and have a good party, unfortunately our Nan was not very well and was unable to make it so the day seemed a little less cheerful but we still had a great day and once again we went smoke free.
• Day 9 - The Christmas hype seems to be settling and although we initially said after Christmas , we seemed very pleased to have already completed over a full week of been a non smoker. Over the past couple of days , I am finding myself picking up the Vapestick less and less and on some days having the odd inhalation or two. The habit of picking one up is decreasing more and more each day and with that I feel the need less now to ever smoke again.

I feel like smiling more every day!

We have been very impressed with the Vapesticks, not realising that it would have such a huge impact on us quitting smoking , we now know this is the best thing we have ever done and thanks to Vapestick it has been made so much easier than previous attempts and successful too.

We are only on our second week of quitting , but know already this is going to be easy, we have been in situations of stress, peer pressure of friends and family smoking alongside us and also alcohol which is one of the factors that used to have me smoke more previously and not once did I feel the need to smoke again, I am enjoying living in a home that does not smell of all the toxins and chemicals a cigarette holds and classing myself as a non smoker gives me a little pride in myself and my husband for choosing to add a few extra years onto our life cycle now that a healthier option to quit has left us feeling more energetic, less lathargic and simply just a little bit better in our whole selves for not smoking.

I love how the Vapestick works. The easiest way to describe it is that the battery powered atomiser heats up the liquid in the tank which then turns it to vapour , you suck out the vapour and the taste and habit of putting it to your mouth and sucking on the contents gives you the feeling of actually smoking when in fact your sucking in clean flavoured vapour.

The E cigarette has been the best invention in my eyes in my whole life which has helped make my life better, safer and may even be longer lasting.

I never thought I would ever quit but after using it for only 9 days , I am already feeling completely smoke free although I know it will take my body years to be completely ridden of all the damage I may have already done to it due to the effects of smoking real cigarettes.

So like I said before , ''I QUIT''!

There is no doubt in my mind that smoking will never be apart of my life anymore,and thanks to Vapestick, I now have a full family using them to join in on the ban .
