As you may have heard for the past few months, I have done nothing but moan about the picture quality while using my old camera . I seemed to be ok using the Olympus Pen E-PL1 outdoors, but indoors I struggled everytime with lighting as every single room in my house seems to be in darkness or did not have much natural lighting. I tried to make things better by purchasing the lightbox and extra lights but to be honest I had no luck with it what so ever , I blamed the camera more than anything. So Ii have moaned on asking my husband to treat me to one for the past couple of months hoping that he would buy me one sooner rather than later and yesterday he walked in with a smile on his face while passing me a surprise. The Fujifilm Finepix S4900 I do not think even my husband has seen me so excited, I immediately opened the box to see what was inside . Package contents -

Sounds amazing doesn't it? Of course, I was more than excited to get out and try the new camera out so today I picked my son up form nursery, pouring down with rain and took ourselves for a nice stroll around our village to try and see what we could capture on our new gadget. Here is what we found , bearing in mind it was very dull weather and raining - Always picking wild flowers for his mum I love taking pictures of flowers, I do not know why , but they look pretty , very good detail I think. We live in a small countryside village where we are surrounded by fields of cows and Horses, It is a beauty to see. Kaiden still had his uniform on and decided he wanted to go for a splash, or soaking as I put it. We do have a lovely stream running through our village but this just looks like a mud heap at the minute in our wonderful British weather . We found a back garden gate that I thought looked like an enlarged fairy garden entrance, love how it is blended in with the scenery . First thing I noticed was that it felt heavier than my previous camera ,not by much , but I could feel a slight difference . It was light and easy to handle and felt a lot more secure in my hands. I made sure to attach the lens cap cord, the lens cover and the camera strap to add the extra safety (I would hate to drop it or lose the lens cover which I had done with my other one regrettably). I am in no way a professional photographer but I am picky when it comes to focus, lighting and getting that perfect picture and this camera states to do all of that . I took a couple of pictures of the children and dogs last night indoors to see if the lighting in my house was any better using this and heres what I came up with . Little mucky faced Leon gave me a smile and you can see even the finest of hairs on his little baby face . Tyson refused to cooperate Very happy that I can now photograph products of upcoming reviews more clearer now. As you can see a clear shot of the writing on a cereal box which I usually struggle with .
My conclusion - This is perfect for someone like me who is keen to get more serious with photography and it comes without the huge price tag at only £99 in Tesco. For some reason though my husband went instore to our local Tesco and was charged £119.99 . Update on why husband was charged £19.99 extra for the camera- I rang Tesco extra for them to tell me that Tesco Direct is not part of Tesco extra in store. They said that instore your tesco extra you will pay EXTRA for electrical appliances due to them needing to be insured incase of damage, (SO NOW I KNOW WHY THEY CALL IT EXTRA) whereas Tesco Direct have them all safely put away so they do not need to cover them so therefore you pay less. In my opinion it is total rubbish! My husband had to wait for someone to go in their storage at the back of the shop to get the safe camera, not one form on the shelves. So why are we still paying the EXTRA ? Maybe I should start asking for my groceries to be discounted too , after all I am ordering on line. I love nothing more than taking pictures of my family, and I mean, I take pictures every day so this will be brilliant for capturing those precious memories which is key to my upcoming photography challenge. This is perfect for taking out everywhere with me , It is so portable that I can fit it in my bag and being lighweight means I only need one hand to use it so no more fiddling about . The feature I love most is most definitely the sliding zoom button. As you slide the button across , the lens expands out of the camera making it feel and look like an expensive professional camera. The easy to navigate features make it easy to use and I for one love that although affordable , the sturdy compact camera takes a quality high performance shot everytime. Another feature which I am loving is the moving record funtion. You can record videos in 720p HD at 30 frames per second you can then connect the camera using the hdmi cable to your HD TV and watch back your footage in prestine HD. The S4900 Fujifilm camera is perfect for those looking for a high performing camera that won't break the bank balance, give you high quality pictures where ever you are at any time of day. I would definietely recommend this to beginners and also on the way professionals.
