My first ever MAC lipsticks - Angel and Shy girl.

For most people I know , well the ladies especially, owning MAC lipsticks are somewhat of a beautiful thing,

You only need to say the word MAC lipstick and everyone gathers to discuss them in excitement.

Well for me , the brand has always been heard of and I have a couple of things like a lovely eye shadow I love and a blush that I wore constantly last summer, but the most loved MAC items are the lipsticks and I have never tried them , never mind owned one.

I could never understand why someone would want to spend £15 - £16 on a lipstick when there are so many other brands available for less and myself I bought lipsticks , probable two or three for the price of a MAC .

Well yesterday , I was upstairs clearing my bedroom out , my make up and body care items had taken over the room so I needed to rearrange them neatly . I was sat on my bed shifting through the boxes of palettes and lipsticks and so forth when my daughter ran upstairs holding a small black parcel marked from Debenhams that had just been delivered through my door .
I looked at it as though it was something my husband had ordered as it is rare I get deliveries these days , especially something I was not expecting , but it was marked for me, so I frantically tore the bag open and rummaged through the bubble wrap.

As the MAC lipstick boxes stared back at me, I felt suddenly weak and in full shock of excitement. Honestly the noises that came out of my blubbering mouth was as if I had something other than make up on my bed with me haha.

Why was I so excited, is this what it feels like having your own MAC?

I had not even opened the packaging and nor seen the lipstick it self and I was already like a girl with a crush.

Immediately I opened them up one by one, taking care not to tear or rip the boxes to get to them (if you are anything like me, I hate nothing more than having something like this in tatty packaging, I want to keep them in their safe place)  . They just looked so perfect. The tubes which held the lipstick were not exactly unique or wonderful but I had seen , heard, searched so many times on the brand MAC that I think I knew already it was the contents that were to be nourished with awe.

I swatched them straight away on my arm , then ran of to get ready.
It was already 3pm and I was not planning on getting ready at all as I had spent the day guttering out my children's bedrooms so by the time I had finished it was pointless.

Never the less MAC had arrived and I for one was not willing to disappoint those gorgeous lipsticks and keep them hidden away. I wanted to get ready and try them in all their glory.

The swatches alone made me weak at the knees, they just glided on and left the most stunning natural tones . I am not sure if it had been the google image searches that made me think they would be so much deeper in colour , but I was over the moon they were not as bold as I thought.

They looked perfect to me, the perfect tones for my every day wear. I had to give them both a go .

I have always looked for that natural nude lipstick and found many that had come near close to perfect but not quite ''THE ONE''.
The lipstick itself comes in MAC's typical bullet twist-off packaging and the tip is slanted, making application easy.

Shy girl is described as ''Creamy neutral coral beige''. It most certainly is creamy and neutral which is definately something I was looking for but as for coral beige? well I think it is more a nude with a slight hint of coral which is the shade I was after. The coral is very vague though , not so noticeable to most I do not think. The orange is not really orange and there's a small hint of pink to it . For me it is perfect maybe the lack of coral and pink in the lipstick is why it has the name shy.


Shy girl has a cremesheen finish and leaves the most natural look to your lips. I see a small hint of shimmer , a beautiful finishing sheen . I find the colour builds up as you apply more to it and that makes it perfect for a variety of skin tones. 
The lipstick is opaque and covers my lips lovely , especially as I have quite a deep coloured lip naturally .


I do not have a habit of smelling lipsticks but today I have noticed it has the most amazing vanilla smell , wow! , I have never had a lipstick smell so delicious but I can not taste it which is a good thing as when I find a lip gloss or balm that tastes like that I will lick it of and have to re apply more than I would like.


This is absolutely amazing, I can see me buying a lot of Mac lipsticks now even though I had quarms over the price  before . This lipstick glides smoothly on my lips with no dragging or feeling dry. I have definately found my favourite daily wear lipstick.

The downside is that the lipstick will look terrible without Exfoliation of the lips prior to application because the product will clump with the dry skin on the lips. Overall, I would recommend this product for those who want natural nude lips without the drying and washing out effect of a nude matte lipstick!

I found I only had to re apply this once during the night . It lasted on my lips for around 4 hours.

My second favourite shade to wear on my lips are a pale pink tone. MAC - Angel lipstick is most definately that. It is described as Pale rosy pink with a frost finish.
This lipstick is creamy looking and certainly feels it , more so than Shy girl.
I do not see the frost finish but like the Shy girl lipstick it leaves a beautiful shimmer . The lipstick is very sheer on the first swatch as showed above but as you can see with build up , it is very opague .
This is another one of MAC's most sold lipsticks and it is not surprising why.

Angel is very wearable for me and I love the results and adversity of how I can wear it as a pale sheen or opague pink look. 
I can see a tint of lilac in the tone which I also love , I think it gives the perfect colour to this shade.
I find it is quite flattering to my skin tone and I feel it brightens my face a little more.

This is very pretty and if you love a light pink lipstick then Angel is definately one to try especially if you have a light/medium complexion .

 Angel applies so smoothly , it does not  pull at my lips or settles in fine lines. I do not find it drying at all, and it lasts about 4 hours on me, which is great when I drink so many cups of tea and of course the Angel lipstick , like all MAC lipsticks , has the most amazing vanilla scent to it .

As with Shy girl, Angel is best applied to exfoliated lips as it shows every dry end and flake of skin. So using a nice lip scrub before application is necessary in my opinion, lucky for me , my lips were in a good mood today , they must have known they were going to be kissed by MAC.

I love MAC's formula and how they have every colour imaginable. I usually always apply lip balm under all of my lipsticks to avoid chapped lips, but I don't feel like it's necessary for any of these MAC lipsticks. There just something about Mac lipsticks that makes them seem super collectable and moreish!? I will be buying many more shades, MAC definitely has the best lipstick around. From now on I won't hesitate to purchase! It does seem a little pricey at first, but once you get it you're so happy to wear it and you'll wear it for any occasion it'll seem as though your money was well spent.

Ok so may be a silly question but do you own MAC lipsticks, how many do you own and what are your most favourite shades?

I am looking to purchase my next few soon,so any help in which to choose would be appreciated thank you .
