My children have always been creative but lately they are venturing more into the artistic side of it and today I wanted to share with you what their new craze of the month is. Beados! What are Beados? Beados are magical little multi coloured beads which , when sprayed with water , join to each other to create something wonderful. Grab a template or get creative and make your own style , the limits are endless, the more beads you have, the bigger the magic becomes. Once dried and ready, the Beados creations can be used as key rings, bag tags and even window decorations, what would you make? The Beados Glitter Quick Dry Design Studio Set. The contents -
Where to buy - Characteronline.com Cost - £19.99 My quarms about this product,(lets get this out of the way)- The first thing I have to say about this is about the box that it came in. What a nightmare that was to open. Don't you just hate having to rip open a box because it has no certain way to open , yet when you do, you need to throw it away and therefore have no where to store the product inside for future use? I hate waste. Well that is exactly my problem and really the only problem with this toy. I like to keep my boxes for my children's toys, these things can take up so much space and if they have not got a desk or shelf to place it on outside of the box then I simply have to go out and spend a fortune on storage for them which is the last thing I want to do. So for me the storage is a big issue with this product, considering it has very small pieces , even the bead storage tray has no lid. So after throwing away the ripped up box, I then set it all up . I then noticed that I needed batteries for the quick dry station so I put that to one side and searched for the batteries and a small screwdriver (another annoying thing about toys that don't come with things they actually need) . In fact it actually took me ages to find out what batteries I needed as I could not find the information on the box it self . My thoughts on the product - I remember last summer , my daughter had a similar toy which worked exactly the same way so this was no way new to us and how it worked. The beads are very small , that small that you get a tweezer pen to pick up the beads individually to then place them on the tray . The tweezer pen is easy to hold and easy to use , my daughter aged 10 had no struggle in using the pen to pick the beads up and place them on the tray and neither did my 8 year old. We separated the beads into the tray which made it so much easier to use the colours we needed and using a template and attaching it under the clear bead tray made it simple for a design to be created. Once the design is finished you simply turn on the quick dry station and leave it for a couple of minutes and when dry use a template to slide under the design and peel away from the bead tray . Sian aged 10 years had so much fun doing this , she decided to make a couple of the designs from the box and she mostly enjoyed the fact that she could tie them onto her bag . I liked the little spray bottle, it was very handy and although you need to ensure that the design has been literally drenched to make it work, it does work if soaked well and left long enough to dry. Once the designs made are dry , they have a lovely flexibility about them, they are bright and cheerful and this Beados Set also include some new glitter beads which my children loved, not many considering it is actually called a glitter design studio but enough to enjoy in a few of the designs.
We did get to make 4 of the templates which included a large one but I do think a few more beads would be better . I actually had fun myself doing these and I can see me buying some of the theme packs to add on to this great starter set. This was great fun and we all as a family enjoyed it , and now I have them safely tucked away in a sealed food container , I feel safe in knowing my smaller children won't get hold of the smaller pieces. So for our creative crafting time, we don't need scissors, glues and glitter , we simply need beads and water . So what do you think about the Beados set, what design would you like to make ?

This has me amazed, I think I'd probably take over haha. I like that there's no messy glue and glitter, I dread the thought of when that day comes and the mess that follows. I like that there's a nice clean alternative. It looks really good. I may get one for my friends kid, it'll keep her quiet for a few hours.

Oh I love the look of this - I imagine my kids would love to play with it and it's the sort of toy that would keep them occupied for ages. Looks great (apart from the box issues!!)

I'm all for toys that encourage creativity. These look great. They'd make nice little keepsakes for grandparents once made I think.
