So I totally forgot that there was an Easter Disco let alone an Egg decorating competition so you can imagine the horror when the little ones told me at 1pm that they needed to do their eggs ready for the disco at 6pm.
They're dad was at work till 6pm too so I did not even have the extra hands to help out, I thought I would be doomed .
Luckily , fear of the children being upset set in and so I instantly go to work.
4 children and 4 themes to do and not many crafts left over after they decided to use them the week previous for other things . I needed a craft top up but being a little skint, we had a few paints and recycling bits left over so had to deal with those.
As they all chose they're themes, one of the older children ran some pictures through the printer to help with setting the scenes in their boxes while I helped with painting and using the glue gun.
Here is what resulted in total chaos after 2 and half hours , tears and sticky fingers, rushing to neighbours for scraps of wool and literally blood and sweat from their very tired mummy.
Leon recently chose Star Wars for his bedroom carpet and so his love at the moment is this theme . He is especially find of Chewbacca , he made good use of the natural outdoors and brought in pebbles and sand from the garden along with wool for Chewwy's fur which was donated by the lovely neighbor.
Libby is still very much into her fairytale endings and she was the easiest for her choice of theme. Using her box and her prints , she made a scurrying rabbit hole for her Alice in Wonderland display. We were over the moon when she in fact won the competition , she had worked very hard on this.
Kaiden is and seems to have always loved the Marvel , Avengers theme and so his choice was of course two of his favorite heroes fighting against each other . With help from his oldest brother , they made a wonderful arena for their battle .
Drew chose the cutest of all the projects. With factual information she made a wonderful panda display sharing educational interests with her cute pink girly touch added.
The children had a great time at the disco , we did not turn up until 6.30pm but we enjoyed a good two hours there until the very end . They danced and played games and all received an egg each, an extra one for Libby who won the egg competition and Drew also won in musical statues so received some fabulous colouring pencils .
It was lovely to be able to get out and let our hairs down a little, the children ran around dancing all night , me and m husband got some time to sit and chill and relax having a chat about our day over a few drinks and everyone was happy.
Joshua loved that he was even given a Paw Patrol egg . He seems to be a little obsessed with it at the moment.
Luckily the children had asked me to make them chilli burrito's for tea and so we prepared them ready for getting in .
The walk home was a good 20 minutes but it was very chilly and we were freezing when we got home .
The Burrito's warming in the oven were the perfect touch to ewnding our evening , filled our bellies and we sent th little ones to bed as they were exhausted.
Me and my husband were not far of either.
We had a lovely day out planned for tomorrow , I wanted a picnic in the park so wanted everyone to be up early to make the most of dad being home .
Having 8 children means that Easter always fills our home with chocolate eggs and I have to say they were very happy with their gifts from family and friends .
What were you doing this weekend,Did you do anything special?
Keep an eye out for our Easter day post where I will be sharing with you what we get up to .
