Easter weekend fun in our Village

In our village in County Durham , there is not much to do at all but this Easter we made sure we had fun , even if it meant we had to stay here. With only a park over the busy road and a community centre next to it which is trying to save  itself to stay open and entertain the village we hoped it was going to be warm and fun.
On Good Friday , we decided to spend the whole day in the garden as the sun was shining and my children love nothing more than playing in their garden as we have basically a park for them to play on with a trampolinw, climbing frame, swings and see saw and slide amongst all their garden toys in the shed lol.

Their dad cleaned his van and cleaned the large swimming pool that the children had played in last summer that had been left out to get , lets say a little way too dirty by now.

Through out the day they found many little creatures that were awaiting a hold and this is the beautiful little green butterfly they were amazed with for about an hour.
The little beauty just sat on each of the children's hands with no care in the world while it caught the sun rays on its wings.
It was a magical thing to see as we find it rare they do this and it is usually worms or ladybirds my children come to us with.

My eldest daughter, Sian is now coming up 10 Years old and has out grown her bike. Being beautiful weather outside she wanted to go out and play on hers but with it being so small she gave it to her sister and her dad took her for a new one . She picked it herself and loves it.

On Saturday , Our local community centre held an Easter Fair with bouncy castle, tombola, crafts, food and drinks, stalls and an Easter egg hunt. They were absolutely over the moon when they seen these characters turn up.

They all won medals and chocolate eggs for entering their handmade bonnets and decorated eggs which they made at the event, unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of them all and when it was announced , we had already gone home as the brothers in law were coming over for their top up of bacon butties lol. Luckily they took a picture of one of their bonnets which Canon Alan is holding and living in a small village everyone knows where everyone lives and so the children got their eggs later on in the evening.

Also there was Crissy Rock from the series Benidorm
It was a great turn out and the whole village filled the centre and a staggering £225 was raised to help keep the community centre going.
It was only a couple of months ago that our little village was told that we were maybe losing it and having nothing here for the children and families , it is vital that the centre stays open so that events like this can keep everyone , especially the younger and older people engaged and available to get out of their homes and into the social community. It was great to see everyone coming together and having fun.

That evening my three girls went to their grandads and spent the night , so me , my husband and the three boys sat and watched movies , and relaxed.

On Sunday we all woke up and the boys were so excited knowing it was Easter and they would have chocolate to enjoy.
They ate chocolate for breakfast , I know it is  not the best start to the day but why not ?

I made and prepared a beautiful lamb roast for us all to enjoy and my dad turned up with the girls just after. It was not so nice outside , which was a shame but the children played games and kept each other amused all day hoping it was going to be nice on Monday for their last day of the holidays.
After indulging in too much chocolate and a little drink once they all went to bed we were ready for the last day of the school holidays .

So today is the last day of the holidays and the children are looking a little disheartened that they have to return back to school tomorrow.

The sun is shining as hoped for and after all our chores and getting ready for the day had been done, me and Kaiden made some Monster Inc cakes while the others went out to play in the garden.

The cakes as you can imagine did not last long.

The children have had a great holiday and to be honest been rather well behaved too.
We decided to go over the park and have some more fun , and I mean me and their dad as we are big kids too so we rode their bikes over to the field .
We are pretty lucky as the park is right in front of our home but being over the main road we do not allow the younger ones to go alone .

We have had a lovely day and the sun is still shining so it has not ended just yet . We have just enjoyed chicken , pasta bake and now eating chocolate again .
For the whole weekend , the children enjoyed the sunshine and I have to admit it has been lovely to have them all at home for the two weeks. Not sure what I am going to do with myself when they go back tomorrow.

How has your Easter weekend gone , did you do or go anywhere interesting?

Wow, what a great Easter Family weekend you got there! I also come from a big family with 5 sisters and a brother. My Mom and Dad used to take us to the mall to hunt for chocolate Easter eggs when we were kids but now we just watch the Easter parade in town after attending Easter Mass then off for a Sunday Brunch. Happy Easter to you and your wonderful family.

Looks like a great weekend and I love communities who come together for events like this. I'm not surprised they feel disheartened about the end of the holidays - I feel that way too!! :)
