Character Online have just introduced to us a brand new creative brand that promises hours of fun and sparkle.

Gemmies are a new form of design creations that clip together to make wonderful little figures and sparkling collectables that can be placed on the light stand to make even more brighter.

Gemmies is aimed at ages 6+ and for the best out of this brand I would highly recommend the Design Studio which is priced at around £30 .
You can also buy the Activity Packs which are priced at £9.99 and have two different themes-
  • Fish theme
  • Food theme
Each activity pack contains 300 clip and connect gem pieces to complete your designs to that theme .

Lets take a look at the Design studio-

So first thing we found when we opened the box was that it looked pretty simple to put together.
The studio is already built and just needed the light studio to be placed on top which took seconds.
(Please note batteries are needed which are not included ).

You also get lots of pretty different colours of gems and clips that are seperated into their own bags and once opened can then be then stored in a pull out drawer on the studio itself which for me makes storage issues alot easier.

The clips attach to each other by using little round elasticated bands and if your coordination skills are not so great this may be a little hard for you to handle at first.

You also receive a few design cards along with the standard instructions .

I have to admit the instructions were not the easiest to understand and it was nice to see that they had took that step further in informing us there was a step by step video at makegemmies.com.

It really did take some concentration and a lot of help from the adults to figure out the instructions but once we got a hang of using the clips and bands (that are rather fiddly) we seemed to get a little quicker and neater at building some little pieces.

The age range for this new creative activity maybe a little enthusiastic I think but it definitely got the older ones including myself involved.
