My children love new things especially when it comes to art and craft creations so when we seen that there was a new pen that you could draw vertically making 3D masterpieces , we were dying to give it a go.

I expected the kits to be rather expensive and be rather hard to use but I couldnt have been more wrong.

We found the pen was really simple .

All that was needed was a little battery operated UV lamp that was provided .
You just needed to click the lamp into place on the end of your pen and turn it on.
The UV lamp was the main ingredient to make things work , well apart from the ink inside the pen that is.

At the end of each pen there is a twisting lid to open and close your pen easily . If you leave it open the ink will dry and not be able to be used in future so make sure you close it after each use and also keep it out of direct sunlight .

We found the trick to have the best use out of this is to take it slow.

The idea is to draw with the light on so that your creating and it is drying at the same time but if you go too quickly and you move too fast , the light will not have enough time to concentrate on each section of the masterpiece giving it enough time to dry .

It takes some time getting used to but once you have the hang of it , you will be having fun and making some fantastic 3D pieces in no time.

There are a few different sets and kits to purchase and they start from £4.50 .
This kit - The IDO3D Vertical Design Studio costs £24.99 and comes with an instruction manual, Tracing work sheet, 4 pens, UV light and two moulds.

The ink can get sticky if you get it on your hands, surface or any other area but it is perfectly safe and is easily cleaned with warm soapy water or a baby wipe which I found more efficient for us.

I had my two oldest ages 12 and 14 have a try and both enjoyed it but the IDO3D is suitable form ages8+ , here are their creations .
