Return of the Clangers

Last year The Clangers returned to CBeebies and I for one love to sit with the little ones and return to my childhood watching it along with them.
To be fair they are a little too old for my children to have seen previously and their first Episode dated back to 1969 which was before even my time .

Narrated by some of the most amazing actors and writers such as Oliver Postgate, Michael Palin, William Shatner , you will enjoy them just as much now as you did then.

Clangers is a stop motion animated children’s television series and although each episode only lasts 10 minutes approximately, they are filled with fun and adventure .

Clangers won ‘’ Best Pre school Animation’’ at the BAFTAS in November 2015 shortly after their return to the screens on CBeebies and since have released a new line of toys and Now their New Magazine which we are pleased to have been given before its release on the 27th April .

There were three other Clangers in the previous episodes but it looks like they have been removed in the new screenings.

One of the more noticeable things about the Clangers is that they do not speak , they use whistle as a way of communication instead and so music  has been made a huge role in this children's show .

Coming from being puppets and now into a wonderful motion series has not ruined my perception of Clangers, In fact I love them just as I did all those many years ago .

Clangers are a small group of creatures that live in a small hollow planet in space.
They are very peaceful creatures and their characters are very much different from each others.

They communicate only in whistle and only eat Green soup and Blue string pudding .

Granny Clanger - Loves knitting and occasionally falls asleep .

Major Clanger - He is the father of the family and tries to make things that sometimes work , he is very creative but is also rather a grumpy character.

Mother Clanger - Often seen preparing her soup for the little clangers and pretty much keeps her role in the home looking after everyone.

Small Clanger - He is a curious and full of spirit little creature. He loves to invent things with his father Major but can get into trouble sometimes with his mischievous manner.

Tiny Clanger - She loves music and is a very lovely little thing who is very loyal to her friends.

I love how they all look knitted and wear their own little clothes.
They wear different coloured waistcoats including an armoured one which Major wears.

The New magazine promises over 30 things to make, read and do and we were very excited to explore its contents.

The first thing I realised as with all CBeeebies magazines previously was that is was bright and cheerful with a colourful content and sleek glossy finished paper which made it easier to remove the taped freebie which came free with the magazine .
For the first release of the magazine , you received a free Clangers whistle as well as a Tiny Clanger figurine.

To me , the decision of what magazine to buy is always determined by what freebie is coming with it and so something noisy and fun is always going to be my sons first choice .

Of course as soon as he did see it he ripped it from the magazine cover (which thankfully did not rip the paper itself due to its shiney , glossy finish) and began blowing through it in tune to the Clangers theme tune .
Inside the magazine you are even given instructions on how to use your new whistle to communicate to other Clangers if ever you were lucky enough to meet one.

Little Tiny , I must admit did do a flying trip across the room as he noticed it was pink and more suited to his sister .
Picture
The magazine seemed an instant hit and priced at £2.99 so it meant it was ideal for a pocket money treat.
After the first issue , the price does drop to £2.85 (even better).
Picture
The magazine is packed full to the brim of all sorts of activities which include reading, puzzles, educational and also active fun.
All activities are of course based on and around the life of the Clangers and the Blue Planet and is perfect for those early stage learning youngsters.

Another thing I noticed about the Clanger Magazine is that it comes with stickers which is always a great incentive to get my little ones to join in on the educational aspects of it .
Stickers always make easy learning in my opinion so I a pleased they added those.

I love that the magazine is not filed with advertisements which encourage spending too, nothing annoys me more than buying a magazine and it being filled with pages of toy brand advertisements encouraging sales of toys , not everyone can deal with a screaming child who really wants that £70 action figure when your purse is empty and an important bill is nothing your child knows anything about.

I love encouraging learning through fun and this is what a CBeebies magazine is all about for me.

Picture
Kaiden loved this magazine and I also enjoyed hearing him reading to me as well as having some one on one time with him where I can help him with his numbers and puzzles too.

There is a great creativity activity inside the magazine which gives instructions on how to make a little Clangers setting made from old bottles and boxes to include your free little Clanger on and this is something my little boy is very excited to get started with and of course I am going to enjoy helping him with.

What do you think about the release of the Clangers and will you be taking a peak at the Magazine ?

We were sent this Magazine free for review purposes but it does not effect our honest opinion  and all opinions are our own.

I definitely approve of a children's mag that doesn't have ads. I think my 3 are slightly too old for the Clangers now - I bet that whistling would drive me mad after a while!
