So the first week of the holidays is over and its now the second week. We have had a fabulous week already and we have not even gone across the doors, Instead we have decided that the first half of the holidays we would stay at home and enjoy our time in the garden so the husband could work the extra hours to save some pennies for us to go on our many days away on the last three weeks. Plus the fact that the car needed some repairs once again did not give us much a choice. So me being at home with the 7 little ones for a whole three weeks on my own while hubby worked seemed a challenge but I survive the first week with no stress or problems at all. Well bar the heart in the throat moments of fear one of them would hurt themselves . Luckily we only had one injury and it had to be the eldest daughter, who was rushing around the garden and went down with a bang when she tripped over her own foot . She was lucky to have been left with bruised and cut knee and elbow, but after a quick freeze and plaster treatment she was soon back on her way looking like a lunatic with a hobble and a limp running around again. We decided to stock up on plenty juice , sun cream and ice lollies and of course once Kaiden heard the slight mention of a water gun , he had his dad rushing to the shops to grab 8 of them, We spent two days soaking each other in the garden and not once did they start to get bored, even the older ones who are now 10,11 and 12 were all joining in and having fun. It was actually a bargain. Tesco water guns 4 pack - £5 We obviously had to buy 2 packs to cover the fact we have 7 children but I was not grumbling with the price as the fun they had using them all week has been worth it and was pennies compared to what you can pay else where. Of course the hose pipe had to come out once they got me , I obviously had to show them who was boss lol. Ok not so fare for them but fun for me . Come the middle of the week we had used up all the suncream and had to buy more to ensure they were safe , luckily Tesco do a pretty affordable bottle that is factor 50 and smells amazingly of coconut. Soleil Light Lotion Spf50 - £3 for 200ml The children were using the Bioderm Sun lotion which is priced a lot higher than this beforehand and I found I had to re apply more often so having something a lot more affordable which worked better to be assuring. We never ate indoors all week, instead put the parasol up in the garden on the table and ate out there, they thought it was fantastic , like a picnic lol, basically saving me spending all the time in a hot kitchen , instead I was making salads and pasta meals , quick and simple. Come the middle of the week , I asked the husband to get the pool out so they could enjoy it as the weather seemed to be getting hotter each day , I thought it would cool them down a little meaning less hot sweaty moody kids but unfortunately the pool had tears in it so he decided to just go buy a new one . We are still looking to move , not sure when but it will be this year hopefully and so we did not want to buy a metal framed one which we were wanting to so he bought them a 12 foot quick set up one and wow , considering it was only 2 foot bigger it seemed twice the size of the 10 foot previous one we had. The kids have had a fantastic week in the garden, and all with only water and sun protection . It seems like today is the cool day, the sun is not shining so much but it means we can have a relaxing day doing arts and crafts, kaiden seems to be enjoying the superhero stage and we made him a mask . Hopefully tomorrow the sun will shine again and we will be back in the garden , who says you need to spend a fortune when you have 7 kids and it is the 6 weeks holidays? Well not me yet, but I am sure when our three weeks are up and we start going places it will start getting a little more costly . We go to a certain children's pleasure play park every year and this year we are excited to go again, although it is aimed at only 10 years and under the older ones love it too . Most of all its affordable and a full day out which we look forward to but I won't tell you yet where it is at , you will have to wait and see if all goes to plan . So 5 weeks to go...................
Hope you are all enjoying the holidays, and I hope if you are stuck at home like me and my children , you spend it wisely and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts. Our British weather never stays nice for long does it? What have you all done for your first week?
