Having 6 kids living at home with us, it can sometimes mean our weekends are spent (especially in winter) by keeping entertained in doors . The cost of taking all of them out for the day can cost anything up to £100 then we would also have another £20 on dinners, not including the 'I want that' , 'I want this' that tends to cost even more than the event itself. We are the type of family who love to spend our time together playing games , taking walks. There was a time when we used to go to the cinemas, bowling and soft play areas but these days it just costs us a fortune so it is rare we can go anywhere like that now . Last month my dad rang me on the telephone and asked if we wanted to go bowling . We obviously jumped at the chance , especially when he then said he had bought us 2 games of bowling for the 6 little ones and it included burger and chips for only £15 when he came across the deal over at Groupon. The deal meant that he would only pay £15 for the lot which meant he saved a staggering £60 . We were rather excited and with it coming up my birthday and obviously meaning I was not going anywhere to celebrate , it meant we could go the weekend before and enjoy some family time. The Groupon deal was valid up until the end of November so we booked it for the 15th ( 3 days before my birthday) . On Saturday we all woke up bright and bushy tailed, got ready and set of to South Shields to go bowling . I rang dad to tell him we would be there if he wanted to pop along and only expected to be there for an hour . Arriving at 2.30pm , we went to the counter , we gave our details then the children were given their bowling shoes and we were told to go to our lane. It was rather busy , there were parties and groups all having fun and soon we were going to join in. We had no worry about how to set up the computer to keep scores, the lovely lady done it all for us and even ordered the burger and chips for the little ones which came with the deal . For me and my husband, we were not playing the game ourselves , merely watching them have fun although we could have if we wished to , so he ordered us both a meal to and wow it was delightful. My dad had turned up by that time but he could not stay long as he had his wife to pick up. They had been working so hard lately that they had rarely got a minute to themselves so that evening was the only time they could before going back on shifts. I actually had to give half my burger to my husband as it was so filling . The burger was so meaty with a couple of slices of bacon and plenty of melted cheese which I for one absolutely love . My dad stole a chip from me but he was not impressed with them but for me it was my type of chip. I obviously had to grab a tub of horseradish sauce to compliment the burger and chips (it is one of my favourites ). The kids all received a mini burger with fries and ketchup each so all to pay for was drinks for us all and mine and my husbands meal. As you can see, Kaiden was more interested in what was going on around him unlike Leon who loves his food. We spent over two hours at Bowling , it ended up being an hour for each game and 15 minutes for the meal and drink break. We had so much fun. The kids surprised us and it ended up being the smaller ones who won the games with Kaiden winning the first one and Libby winning the second. The first game went well, the kids got very competitive and the elder seemed rather annoyed at the fact he was losing but he was happy to see the little ones having fun and we giggled at their every throw of the bowling ball that seemed quirky and funny looking. Kaiden got a little tired during the second game and so me and my husband took a couple of his turns and I have to admit , It was at that point I decided the kids were better at it than us and so we left them to it . The day was going fantastically, kids were behaving, they were having fun and not one argument between them spilled. I honestly think if we find a deal like this again we would definitely grab it while the offer is on , we absolutely loved our day at the Dunes 10 pin bowling and by the time we walked out of the door to go home , we realised just how much time we had spent in there considering we thought we would only be 1hr , it was pitch black. 5pm and already the dark nights are here early . We promised the kids we would go to Tesco to get them some sweets and so we then headed of to our local where we also grabbed a nice joint of pork for our Sunday roast for the next day along with some bits and bobs. So for us , our first visit to the Dunes in South Shields was a fantastic experience. We had some great laughs and giggles, the children had fun and the food was lovely too.
We will definitely be heading back , maybe next time me and my husband can try to play a little to.
