So as you all know , we were hosts to the @Nickjruk and @ukmumstv #nickjrcraftmas twitter party on Monday 1st December . We had our party over the weekend , initially planned for our usually dull Saturday but not realising the extent of how much was involved and sent to us, we ended up continuing the party up until Sunday evening . Here is how we got on- With the table completely covered in all things craft and glory, we prepared ourselves (as in myself) the mess and galore that I was ready to participate in along with the children who were very excited by grabbing a big black bag and hiding it under the table. With food prepared we were more than ready to get stuck in , but with so many choice we were a little unaware where to start , so I opted for the Snowman Mosaic kit. The kit was so simple for all the children involved to achieve. The instructions were very easy , simply peel of a coloured sticky square and place it on the colour matching on the cardboard cut out. It took them 40 minutes for them to finalise their master pieces and to be honest they all looked exactly the same to me but they all knew their own somehow . We hung these up on our wall. The first Christmas decoration of 2014 in the Prince household. They were very proud. After having such dedication from the children in trying so hard with their mosaics, I then decided to reward them with a game called Pin the nose on Rudolph. Our instruction sheets were very easy to follow (although we did not have any blutac supplied so used double sided sticky tape ). Realising I placed the Reindeer a little high for the smaller children on the back of our sitting room door, I prepared a chair for them to stand on and blindfolded them all ensuring they were in front of the reindeer and able to reach it holding their pretend Rudolph nose to stick on . Kaiden aged 4yrs , got very close by placing it on the reindeer but on his tummy not his snout where as Libby aged 7yrs old got it spot on and won the game being the one who got it (sorry for the pun) right on the nose. After all of the giggles , we then decided to make some home made crackers and surprisingly the ones supplied came with some real poppers that actually crackled when pulled apart. The children spent a good 30 minutes trying to figure out how to make the initial cracker but once they had that bit figured out they filled them with a hat, joke, the most important bit (the popper) and of course a couple of sweets then tied each end with string to secure it all in place. I have to say , I was rather impressed with them , so impressed in fact , I actually placed them on our Christmas tree for all to admire . We will be putting them pride of place on the table on Christmas day . All this hard work was tiring them out, (either that or they knew their were cakes to be made with sweet icing to lick of the spoons). So we then decided to do the chilling winter themed cakes . After placing the sponge cakes, marshmallows, pipe icing and silver balls on the table they all dug in straight away, I did not even have to say go , but that is no surprise, we all love cake, don't we? Just look at the fantastic tasty results- Leon aged 5yrs , certainly loved them. Getting back to the crafting part of the party, (although children looking a little sick in the face form over indulgence ), we got out the cards kit and silence hit the room for the first time all day. The concentration on their faces while making Christmas cards with nothing but lolly pop sticks, pompoms , green card, cut out Nick Jr characters and glue , they soon made some wonderful creations , unlucky for me they had already decided they were giving them all to their teachers On Monday morning.. Moving onto the next activity , the children thought it was a little silly as they made their own little transformations as Elves like Ben and Holly themselves from Nick Jr. Ok , the children were so hyped up by now it was unreal, I did not even realise how late it was getting but it was already dark outside so I decided a nice white Snowman would be perfect to brighten up the evening. Time for '' Dress the Snowman Game'' ''Do you want to build a Snowman?................'' Yes, I decided to go all out and sing along to it, why not? This was so fun! There could only be one winner however, and that was Drew........... We had so much great fun , so much in fact this post is going to start to take over the whole entire blog if I carry on any more but here are some of the other items that we created. Our whole weekend was dedicated to the Craft party and considering I thought it was only going to last a couple of hours, I was most certainly surprised at how much more time it had taken up. The children and the snowman that had suddenly appeared had also had a fantastic time which was great to see and it had not cost a fortune for a change. Come on , the snow man game was literally their hats and scarves and a toilet roll, how can I moan about spending such small pennies to keep them entertained for so long . We were absolutely exhausted and school was next day so once the children had opened their party bags which included another activity, a calender to design for next year, plasticine, sweets and magnets along with all their creations they had made , I swiftly cleaned up and prepared for the night ahead. Usually my lot do not sleep, I had them still bouncing up the stairs going to bed , but in fact they were worn out, Every single one of them were sleeping peacefully and after I had cleared the table ready to have their breakfasts for the morning sorted , it was also my turn to head of up the apple and pears. Here is one of the models Kaiden made with his daddy out form his goody bag- So did you join in on the twitter party?
How did it go? Thank you for joining in, we had a fantastic time and would like to thank all those who made it happen. Hope to see you at the next party .
