Are you a mum who loves to spend your time in the kitchen and tries to involve the children as much as possible too?

Well if so, you are going to love this new Kitchen baking for kids activities brand that gets even the smallest of children involved .

In each kit you will receive all you need to make the treats you have chosen (except for water which is readily available to us in our kitchens for free) even down to the little mixing spoons , measuring spoons and even sometimes depending on the product a serving suggestion such as bags or a pizza spatula as we found .

Before receiving these products we were unsure whether it was real food or pretend play food , all I knew was that we made little delicious looking treats and the were tiny little bite sizes .
Luckily for my children it was the real thing and I have to agree I seemed rather excited as much as they were to give them a try .

Our fist Treat was the Mini Pizza Party.

Mini Pizza Party-

In this pack, we are told we can get 10 pizzas and it will take only 16 seconds  so let us see if it is correct.

Firstly we separated all of the different pieces needed into sections.

Contents-

  • One mixing tray / separation tray which is cut in half by an adult .
  • One set of easy to read instructions.
  • 1 packet of crust mix
  • 1 Packet pizza sauce base mix
  • 1 packet of powdered cheese
  • 1 mixing spoon
  • 1 measuring scoop
  • 1 Pizza Serving Platter (mini of course)

Cost - £6.99
Available from www.Character-online.com

The instructions were very easy to follow for the children. Each step had a pictured diagram so it made it easier for them to know what was what and what went where.

Having its own mixing pots meant there was less mess , especially because each pack contains just the right amount so there was even less waste as every single ingredient was used up fully.

To be fare , it was so easy that when it came to mixing the second pack , they threw it all in without measuring and simply just added water to mix.

While you see my youngest ages 5 enjoyed the basics of mixing and measuring the ingredients then placing a small amount into each section contained on the trays, my oldest aged 11 years was able to accompany him in placing them safely into the microwave for the baking part of the event.
( Supervision is still needed as the trays are made of plastic and still get very hot to touch so I would advise using a mitt when removing the tray from the microwave ).

The first thing we all noticed first before baking in the microwave was that the dough mixture smelt like freshly made pizza base, we could smell the herbs and seasoning in the dough and also the sauce base which made the sensation of real baking more real.
I have to be honest in thinking that the whole thing was going to smell like rubber but it was a pleasant surprise to get the full aroma of baking in a pizza kitchen.

We found that the timing was a little of and we had to add another 20 seconds onto the recommended time in the instruction manual, but still making the cooking time less than one minute made it better for me as my children get so impatient , especially when they are stood watching and waiting with ovens.

By the time we cleared up the packaging waste and washed our hands and sides, the microwave had pinged and ready to be served .

We did not get many pizzas, in fact a far cry from the 10 that we were expecting and in fact we only got half but they children thought they were fantastic and tasted exactly like pizza.

We then gave the Cookie Creations a try.

Again just the same as the pizza kit, you were given a set of tools to help make the tiny little creations .

  • One set of easy to read instructions.
  • 1 packet of cookie dough mix
  • 1 Packet white choc chips
  • 1 packet of milk choc chips

My youngest felt very smug with himself when I turned to find he had already mixed it all together and placed them into the tray as I went to get water from the sink .
It really is that simple to do .

The children gave the mix a whiff and once again we were all amazed at how gorgeous the dough mix smelt.

Just like the other one my oldest daughter placed them in the microwave to bake and once again we had to add another 20 seconds onto the recommended time until they were fully edible .

Leaving them to cool and then placing them into the bag supplied , it took no time at all before the children dug in and swallowed them all up.

We only got 5 out of the pack again but the children loved it and they said they would definitely do these again.

Picture
The children found them great fun and I really enjoyed the fact that it was mess free and no waste included.
My only downfall for this product is that I feel £6.99 is a little steep for only getting 5 very small bite size products but the fun and educational aspect of having my children in the kitchen alongside me baking is one I enjoy .

I agree with you that for such a small amount at the end the price is too high but the kids had fun and that's priceless.

These look yummy and the kids always love anything they've made themselves. The price is a bit steep for 5 though, I agree!
