Bringing sunshine to ''One fine grey''.

Today has felt like one of those days where I just feel my nails needed some polish love .

I received these two lovely polishes last month and because I have been on the Dr Lewinn's challenge which consists of me wearing no polishes what so ever for the past two months other than their strengthener I have now caved in to temptation.

I was dying to try the Nails Inc Bow in '' One fine grey '' with an added top coat of Minnie Coutures gold shimmer.

Nails inc has never been one of my fave polish brands but the colour of this is gorgeous and although it states grey it seems it has a green tone to it which is rather appealing.

I was rather impressed with the formula as it went on soo sleek and smoothly and the application seemed even and dried quickly.

If I wanted this to have the matte look as I was originally going to do before I got too busy to remember (as this is a high polish finish look), I would have held my nails over a hot steaming pan of water to get the perfect effect.

Top tip:-

Turning your every day polish into a matte polish is simple.
  • Boil a pan of water so the steam is rising above the pan
  • Paint your nails in the usual way
  • Straight after application do not allow to dry and hold your nails over the steam of the pan (being careful not to touch the pan or boiling water)
  • This will give you instant matte looking nails with any polish

The Minnie Couture in gold shimmer was actually better than I expected. I was rather impressed with the application of this as it was very thick and applied evenly . The colour is what Ii can only explain as golden sun.

It actually reminded me of the Nails Inc bottles and brush as they look pretty much similar to each other .

I apologise for the poor quality of the picture (I really need a new camera but can not afford one at the moment due to moving and the kids spending my every penny ) but in fact that gold is soo gorgeous it looks as it does in the bottle on the top picture when it is on the nails and the shimmer is immense.

Unfortunately I did not find that the Minnie Couture polish dried fast enough for me and I smudged it in less than 10 minutes after application lol.
Comes with being mum of a demanding toddler who asks for cups of teas and dinner to be made I suppose.

These two polishes came in bundles along with some other colours from their collections so I will show you another , especially the coral /orange shade from the Minnie Couture set as it looks perfect for Spring.

I think the most appealing point of each of these are how shimmery the gold Minnie Couture was and the amazing glossy shine of the Nails Inc.

I feel I have lost all imagination to nail design so I am going to be looking into having some sort of task in place in the next few days where I will be giving myself a challenge.

I want to put all of my polishes in one big box and do a lucky dip. This will ensure I get to use even those colours I have not even opened yet and give them all a chance.
I will pull two or three colours out and work with those . I am going to be looking for design inspiration from something I have around me that day , such as my outfit, objects around my home or outdoors or even seen on someone else's post.

I spent so much money on nail products for nail art last year I think it only fare I finally get some use out of it all .

What polish are you wearing today?

Lovely colours! I'm rubbish at finding the time to paint my nails and then when I do paint them, I chip the varnish in minutes :( You've inspired me to paint my nails tonight!

I never wear polish - it cracks too quickly as I don't have the lifestyle to look after it! I also have short nails for playing the piano... Great tips though!

I have to admit that I'm not a fan of nail polish at all. I don't have the patience to sit waiting for it to dry, I always end up smudging it and I get annoyed when it starts chipping off, which is usually the same or next day! I do love the look of that gold one though :)

I've never heard of that way of making nail polish matte?! If I'm honest though, I rarely wear nail polish. I don't like my nails much and don't want to bring attention to it. I love this title for your post!
