I have to admit since starting collecting nail polish, the first brand I fell in love with was Barry M . Affordable with hundreds of textures and shades , I seemed to grow my collection from 1 to near a hundred in little more than a month . It was hard not to at the time as I seemed to be going through a nail painting phase and with the endless colours continuing to come out I just kept adding them. Luckily for me , I have since had to slow down due to other brands joining my collection but I did get this lovely new shade last month and thought I would share it with you. Barry M Gelly Hi Shine have been one of the collections from them that I have not had the joy of trying yet and so when I got the Almond shade , I simply had to place it on my nails to see how the formula had changed since my spending spree last summer. Almond Gelly Hi Shine can be bought from Barry M for only £3.99. Only £1 more than the polishes I bought when I started collecting them. OK so I am not nuts about the neutral tones on my nails, (no pun intended) , but since summer has disappeared, I have been looking for a little less colourful shade and escape those purples and red tones I seem to be slowly falling for this Autumn. The Almond polish by Barry M to me seems a little less than what I was expecting. I had looked at reviews on the shade before getting it and was surprised to see that the pictures of those reviews revealed a lot a darker shade than it is . This is not dark almond at all, in fact it is very fresh and light . The shade is a very light taupe tone , easy to apply and quick drying . I did not notice any smudging or streaking with this polish and the formula was a little thicker than the usual colour polish from Barry M and went on no bother at all. It only took two coats to get the perfect opaque finish. I actually think this polish would be great in all seasons and go with many others as a duo. For having Hi Shine in the name , I was expecting a little more shine to the finish but it does not , just a little not exactly the HI SHINE I would have liked.
Would love to give the other shades ,especially the summer colours , have you tried them yet?

Sat with a house full of sweet delights and I somehow feel I should not pass anything sweet over my lips any more after the sweet tooth I have lately. I look into my nail basket and see what can only be described as the sweetest little false nail set designed with little ice creams painted onto them. They even have a cherry on the top with sprinkles. My tummy is rumbling and I know exactly how I want my nails today. I have had these in my nail design collection for about two months now but unfortunately seeing that glue was needed to apply them , they got threw to the bottom of the pile. I can not stand applying nail glue or any glue for that matter onto my nails, especially since I was trying to get them to a healthy state, it really does just ruin your nails and takes forever to grow out. Luckily I remembered that I had some adhesive tabs which were spare from my other Elegant touch sets and I preferred those due to the fact they done no damage plus were easily removed with no mess or fuss. I cleaned my nails, ensuring there were no oil or dirt left from previous products applied then sorted the adhesive tabs onto my nails . Looking at the different colours on the ice creams, I honestly thought I would end up with the same colour on every name but fortunately I found one of each shade for each nail. I sorted the nails into sizes to fit each nail and then it only took 2 minutes to have them all safely secured and applied. I love Elegant Touch adhesive tabs with false nails , makes my life so much simpler and takes up no time at all. Although the tabs are like a silicone glue and do not look at all secure, the nails stay on for a full day at least for me until I start trying to take them of ready for bed . I have to remove them or I fear I will gauge my eyes out especially with this cone shaped nail , I cant imagine how people have their real nails like this and actually manage day to day chores, jobs and routines. The nail shape is something I am not used to wearing, I usually go with a short round edge look but I was pleased to get a try at it, maybe having them a little shorter would benefit me more with my day to day goings on. The nails were applied as they were , no cutting down, no shaping or trimming and they do look cute as anything but for me a little too pointy and long. These would be perfect for those who are used to the shape and length and looking to make a statement. You can buy these from Elegant Touch for £8.99 but there are a lot of other shapes and patterns and for me I think the Nail art and Thorn in my side are my favourites although I am tempted to try the Mental Monsters due to the fact I have some living in my home already . For a bit of fun these nails are perfect, I love the diversity of designs that Elegant Touch have and when they are able to be used with the adhesive tabs I find it an easy option to put them in my basket.
Will you be giving them a go, have you? Let me know what you think. Woke up today looking at my nails and the pile of nail polishes sat next to me. The past few weeks , my nails have endured some fantastic shades but I wanted something more so grabbed a few shades of blue, a little sparkle and top and base coat from the Barry M range and started painting my nails with all intentions of doing something different, not quite sure what. Firstly I started with the Cyan blue Still looking at them wondering what next? I decided to give my hand an accent nail which of course would be the sparkle. Taking the Hologram polish , I began to paint the middle nail, feeling a little better but still not impressed with its plain sparkle (I wanted more ) , I did not feel the nails were busy enough, I do not feel so plain today. Next I think of adding some stripes, I have no idea why but I imagined a little contrasting would look fantastic so picked out the Matte white and began by drawing a slim line down the left hand side of my nail. Feeling better , I then decided to go even more into it and added another line right next to the white with the Blueberry. My nails were beginning to look busy and I started to like them but I then thought to myself, they look a little light , how about bringing a deeper shade of blue into it. Here goes the Navy (one of my fave shades from the Barry M blue shades). Finishing with a top coat I looked back with a smirk on my face, I thought it looked OK, Not bad for a morning quicky at all. I have always been a huge fan of Barry M nail polishes in , fact it was the first collection I bought and the vast range of shades are as bright and cheerful as I admire.
The formula goes on well and smoothly and it dries quite quickly too (although once again as I painted them , the door rang with postman delivering a parcel for the new home and I smudged it before taking a pic of the finally ), I had to redo the nail but it was only 2 minutes after applying so I was being eager. The thing I love about Barry M polishes is that they are so affordable , unlike the bigger brands , these won't break the bank and are a perfect polish for anyone wanting to experiment with trying to do something different with their nails. Barry M can be bought from Their online store and cost from as little as only £1.99 . They do a huge range of colours and types, I have a couple of the effects which the children love and also some glitters -
They also do a nail pen range and also care range for your nails to. The list is endless with different shades and I wish I could try more to add to my collection.Have you tried this brand , what do you think of the shades and polish itself? Let me know! So last month I got the first ever MAC nail polish ever. Over the past few months I have grown to love the MAC Makeup range and having a collection of nail polishes , it only seemed right to give their nail lacquer a go to. For me nail polish is something I wear to express my feelings or mood and they usually tend to be colourful and bright with the odd day nude or dark. Last week , I celebrated my 2nd wedding anniversary , my husband and I went away for the weekend and spent some much needed time alone together and so my mood this past week has been full of love, passion and happiness. Seemed suited to wear a new polish I had not shown you yet which was from MAC ''Ablaze'' Ablaze can be bought from MAC (unfortunately out of stock currently ) Cost - £11.0010 ml / 0.34 us fl oz £11.00 /10ml What does MAC say about this polish ? Revolutionary new high gloss formula. Three longwearing finishes - Cream, Sheer and Frosted. Visibly different. Provides no-streak/no-chip finish. Contains conditioners and UV protection. Go hi-lacquer! As I said in the previous OPI red polish post, I rarely wear red on my nails but I am growing fonder of this colour more and more and red signalises love and passion to me. This week is definitely the week to be wearing it for me and this is why maybe I am enjoying the shade so much this month. The MAC Ablaze nail lacquer is a stunning orange shade red , very bold and bright and that is something I most certainly love. The shade is more red than orange but the orange makes it pop and it is a lovely creamy colour . The formula is perfect, I do not know what I was quite expecting , but I was not expecting it to be so easy to apply, the brush is perfect to handle and the lacquer glides on the nail perfectly. I had no problems at all with streaking or bubbling and the finish left a stunning polished shine. The good thing I found with this which I find troubled with , with most other formulas is that it dried almost instantly, I had no waiting about . The fact that the postman arrived only 2 minutes after applying it with a lovely parcel of Fake bake Flawless and new phone cover and I had to grab it and sign for it whilst fighting the 2 German shepherds to get back from eating him proved its worth to me. The polish only took two coats to get the perfect opaque coverage on the nail and I have to admit I am very impressed and in need of more shades for sure.
MAC nail lacquer is now on my wish list , I seemed to be able to get a more precise aim at applying the polish with the thin brush , went on an absolute dream. Just look at that shade , wow , I love it! Have you tried them before, what did you think? Coca Cola Red is my next polish to show you. Coca Cola Red is (if you have not guessed already ) inspired from the original Coca Cola drink . They describe the shade as always in style and always perfect. For me, wearing red is somewhat of a scary ordeal. I associate red polish with sex , romance and love and very rarely apply to my nails . In fact I rarely wear red at all but surprisingly have been told to wear it more as it compliments my blonde hair and blue yes well. I have tried red polish before but to me they always seemed the wrong shade either to pink toned, black toned or even orange shaded and I have looked for a more red shade for some time, well up until now. The polish is stunning , for me the perfect red tone. It is bright and cheerful, bold and classic looking. Only two coats of this stunning shade is all you need for a perfectly opaque finish and the fantastic shine left at the end makes me smile with delight. This red polish really does pop with any look and will brighten up any outfit. I did have a bad brush with this polish which was quite disappointing, not sure why but it still applied very well and smoothly with no streakiness , I just had to take a little more care in my putting it on . Does anyone else have this problem with their polish ? For me this polish compliments my olive fare skin tone, and I would say it would suit all others too .
I can see this being worn in all seasons , something to cheer me up on those grey mornings especially. Will you be adding this to your stand, have you? Let me know! |
