Who are Old Wives Tale? A lady named Lily contacted me offering me their SOS Organic Anti-Hair Loss Oil Treatment for review. Living and growing up in the beautiful hot countries such as South Africa and Portugal, the sun had taken its toll on the Lily's hair as a child and it was her Grandmother who loved cooking with oils in the kitchen that made up a mix of oils and told her to apply it to her hair and leave it over night , promising her that she would have amazingly smooth, soft and hair that was full of life again. Sure enough Lily was happy with the results and she was amazed at how gorgeous her hair felt and so she continued to use the formula up until she moved to England in her late teens where she used the commercial shampoos and conditioners . Each year she would visit her Grandmother and bring herself a batch back of the hair treatment to use but with University studies and work and in her late twenties, she then decided to give the organic hair care products business a go. I love the phrase she uses and how she describes the name choice of her brand which she now sells and distributes worldwide. She named her brand - Old Wives Tale. Old Wive being her Grandmother and Tale for her new long locks of hair . Now that her brand is made and sold, she prides herself in knowing that her small hair care company is organic with no additives or chemicals and their lifetime goal is to eradicate animal testing and cruelty in the beauty industry . The products are made in small batches to ensure freshness and lack of waste . They donate 10% of their profits to charities that save animals from being tested .
You can find out more about Old Wives Tale on the following networking sites- Old Wives Tale Website Google+ So lets take a look at the product- SOS Organic Anti- hair loss treatment - 100m Can be bought from - Old Wives Tale website Cost- £13.99 Ingredients- Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Prunus Dulcis (Almond) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Flower Oil. What Old Wives Tale say about their product- A healthy scalp is vital for healthy hair growth. If you suffer from a dry, itchy scalp just a few drops of SOS will soothe, moisturise and soften your scalp to prevent hair loss. This 100% organic oil contains natural anti-bacterial agents that soothe and heal scalp infections and remove dead skin cells. SOS has stimulating properties that increase circulation and encourage healthy hair growth. How to use - Old Wives Tale say to massage deeply into the scalp, in particular on the most dry areas. For em that is my ends of the hair, Smooth over the rest of your hair to strengthen each and every strand root to tip. Leave on for one hour or overnight then rinse with fresh water and shampoo. Repeat this process until your hair feels clean and product free. After shampooing you can use conditioner on the ends of your hair only. Rinse out thoroughly and style as normal. Using the treatment by leaving it on over night and wrapping your hair in a warm towel will give you the best results. Store in a cool dry place and do not apply to open wounds . My thoughts on the treatment- Price- Ok so some people may think that £13,99 is a little much for such a small product, but if you are anything like me, then you may have payed more for a treatment before and not had any results what so ever. For me it is all about paying for what you get and when you know the product is organic and natural and free from animal testing then the price seems to go out to the back of the mind. The product may only be small but you only need a very small amount to get a good coverage on your hair so will last you twice as long as the commercial hair care products . Packaging- The packaging is very simple . A clear rounded plastic tub with a black twist of lid. A small circular sticker with the ladies red head and the brand name which is placed central to the product . The only problem I have with it is that if this was to be put on the shelf or given to someone in a hamper or as a gift , then I would recommend placing a label on the back or bottom ,explaining the ingredients inside the product. Usually I would not use a product if it did not have a label of ingredients, luckily I have access to the internet to check but I am not sure that everyone does. Other than that its quite cute and discrete , easy for carrying on your hot summer trips away. Scent- Ok I am trying not to laugh as I remember applying this to my hair and my husband sticking his nose in the air and running around the house at me telling me he did not like it. He is right in saying it is very strong but I have to disagree with him that it was not nice, I actually love the scent of organic products, it assures me it is what it says especially when I only smell almond, lavender and peppermint and clove. I find it quite relaxing although my senses do not. I find the scent addictive and keep opening the bottle just to have a little whiff . I love the aroma from the treatment , smells lovely to me . Texture - There is not much to say about the texture , it is oil and all oil is greasy although in my opinion this is not as greasy as expected . My conclusion- About 6 years ago , I ruined my hair after colouring it over and over again . The constant nasty chemicals that attacked my hair literally killed my hair and left it feeling lifeless , dry and the hair dresser showed me that my hair was like elastic. He pulled a strand from my head , placed in front of my eyes and pulled each end to show how I had ruined my hair by stretching it. I felt terrible , I had no idea how much damage I had done to my what once was long beautiful hair and felt physically sick it would never be the same again. From that day I decided not to ever colour my hair again and cut my very long (down to my bum) hair to a very short shoulder length style. I vowed never to use chemical treatments or colourings ever again and since then have not and take care in using only products I feel safe for my hair. I still suffer with very dry, itchy scalp and it can be very annoying on a daily basis. Also , because my hair is so thick and long now after growing the old hair out and looking after it a lot more, I find whilst brushing my hair that I lose quite a lot of hair strands, In fact I would say every time I brush I lose about 50 -100 at least , its ridiculous , and that is without the daily fallouts that happen during the day to. The treatment oil contains anti-bacterial agents that heal scalp infections and remove dead skin cells, as well as having stimulating properties that increase circulation and encourage healthy hair growth. The hair loss is natural I know that , but the ease and rescue the product gave my dry , itchy scalp is what makes me love it. The best way to use this is by applying this onto your damp hair , making sure you apply to the ends of your hair and for me ,my scalp was in need of help to. Place a shower cap over the top ,(maybe a pillow protector to protect those sheets to) and leave it on for an hour or until you wake up the next morning. I immediately showered the next day , ensuring I had removed the oil treatment from my hair . I had to shampoo my hair only once to remove the oil from my hair and gave it a blow dry . I can not really comment on the hair growth but I can say that after the first use I noticed my hair was soft, shiny more manageable and I found whilst brushing my hair that less hair strands were found in my hair brush so it must have definitely strengthened my hair . I love the fact that when it has been washed out even with a shampoo that the aromatic and woody scent is still there but luckily for my husband not so pungent as it did from the bottle . My husband has the reclining hair style that he does says bothers him , unfortunately he disallowed me to try this on him to see if it would help regrowth due tot he smell , I am hoping I can catch him out one day though. The treatment most definitely healed and soothed my scalp, it feels so calm . If you love to use home made organic products from a brand that have morals and ethics to help and protect nature and animal rights, then I would totally recommend Old Wives Tale . I can definitely say from someone who knows about ruined hair, that this is somewhat of a wonderful product to have and Ii would totally recommend it to anyone who needs a natural treatment to replenish your hair. Good day everyone,,,,,,,,,, Today I want to share with you a lovely hair product which I have been using for the past week .......... Kerastase ELIXIR ULTIME Sublime Cleansing Oil-Enriched Shampoo! Over the winter my hair seems to lack my natural blonde streaks and I was looking fro something that would bring back the shine and colour back into my hair as it is in the summer . This is something I usually tend to with a chamomile shampoo but no longer does that seem to be working as my hair seems to be getting darker with age. Kerastase was something I had heard of and thought I would give it a go . What they say about Kerastase ELIXIR ULTIME Sublime Cleansing Oil-Enriched Shampoo- Kérastase's most exquisite Bain and Masque are enriched with a high concentration of sublime oils, to leave hair feeling luxuriously nourished with a lustrous-looking shine. An exceptional haircare ritual. Kérastase ELIXIR ULTIME Sublime Cleansing Oil-Enriched Shampoo contains a high concentration of oils for lavish cleansing. For hair that feels light and luxuriously nourished. Kérastase ELIXIR ULTIME Sublime Cleansing Oil-Enriched Shampoo is suitable for all hair types. Technology - Oleo-Complexe: a combination of four precious oils: - Pracaxi - Argan - Camelia - Maize. Paraben free. Ingredients- Aqua/water, sodium laureth sulfate, mipa-laureth supfate, sodium chloride, cocamidoptopyl betaine, glycerin, peg-18 castor oil dioleate, propylene glycol, peg-55 propylene glycol oleate, laureth-5 carboxylic acid, persea gratissima oil/avocado oil, ppg-5-ceteth-20, sodium benzoate, laureth-2, polyquaernium-53, salicyclic acid, linalool, alpha-isomethyl ionone, limonene, zea mays/ corn germ oil, argania spinosa oil/ argania spinosa kernal oil, camellia oleifera seed oil, pentaclethra macroloba oil/pentaclethra macroloba seed oil, sodium hydroxide, citric acid, parfum,/fragrance. C54235/1. Directions: Apply Kérastase ELIXIR ULTIME Sublime Cleansing Oil-Enriched Shampoo to wet hair. Massage in, rinse thoroughly. As some of you may already know , my hair can be some what of a pain and there is only a few shampoos that actually give me great results unless I use half a bottle to even touch the amount of hair I actually have . Cleaning my hair can take forever and I find it a challenge almost every time I have to do it . So far the only shampoo Ii have found that has made my hair feel amazing to the point I felt pampered was the Neal and Wolf Ritual daily cleansing shampoo which since using has left my hair feel the best it has ever felt and well the smell of course made me weak at the knees. I like a shampoo that makes my hair feel soft and clean with just a shampoo and not have to continue with conditioners and sprays and such afterwards and Neal and Wolf just did that so when I tried this I was pleasantly surprised. Packaging - I do not know if it was just me but seeing the gold bottle made me somehow think that the product would be golden oil colour too but it was not , (just thought I would add that as I honestly thought it would be which by the way makes no change to the product what so ever lol). I love the pear shaped bottle and its twisty top lid, the collection does look fantastic in my bathroom. Gold never goes out of style for me . Price- Ok , so some may be used to paying around the £2 - £6 mark for a shampoo but this is spectacular in regards to the ingredients and what it actually does. I do not mind paying a high price , although I do wish that the bottles were larger because I do use three times more than the average person to cleanse and cover my hair in shampoo and it never lasts me very long at all. Scent - I was not expecting any scent really from this ,I was surprised that it actually smells quite musky , quite manly to me , but it smells very clean and fresh . My conclusion-
Ok so the price is a little high for the small bottle, the scent is not so girly fantastic for the price but the pretty gold packaging is ok, so how did I actually find the product itself and what effect did it have on my hair ? Well , for a start I was expecting an oily texture and it did but without the greasy feel , it simply felt oily in the respect it was silky soft with a slight sticky feel like a shampoo should have. I like to have a lot of lather when I shampoo and this does just that , it lathers up very well which ensures me that I have reached all areas . The other good thing I love about this product is that I do not need so much , just one lather and I do no need to top it up for a second round unlike I would with the average shampoo. I think because of all the oils mentioned, I was worried it would wear my hair down and make it look greasy but in fact it left my hair feeling soft and amazingly soft . My hair felt so light for a change. I am trying the Morocco oil this week so I will keep you informed on that in the next week or so as I know there are people who prefer one to the other , for me it is all about cleanse, condition and manage for my thick , long, course hair and this worked for me . Have you tried this , what do you think? Let me know .... So I have a fabulous new range of hair products which I have to admit I am loving so much I don't know why I have not had them sooner. Who are Silk Of Morocco? Silk of Morocco is an Australian brand that offer Hair Care, Skin Care and Pure Mineral Cosmetics that include natural products infused with Cold Pressed Certified Organic Argan Oil as their KEY ingredient. Silk of Morocco have now expanded their services to many countries , 14 in fact including UK, Japan , Germany and Dubai. Silk Of Morroco say that their products are safe to use after Keratin straightening due to the fact they are salt free and contain no sodium chloride.
So for me this is most definitely something I am in need of as I am always straightening or curling my hair and I am in dyer need of protecting my hair. My hair is ridiculously thick and I fear I may cause damage to it regular . I suppose I just never know for sure if the thermal protections I have recently used are actually working. This is why I have chosen the Thermal Protection & Shine spray to show you firstly out of the range . Thermal Protection & Shine Spray. So what does it do? Silk Oil of Morocco Thermal Protection and Shine Treatment Spray is infused with Cold Pressed Certified Organic Argan Oil. When we use Heated appliances like blow dryers, curling and crimping irons, thermal brushes and straightening irons it reduces the natural moisture in your hair and this is what causes damage. Silk Oil of Morocco Thermal Protection and Shine Spray protects hair from the high heats which then allows you to style your hair without worry. The amazingly light formula is instantly absorbed by the hair with, leaving the hair beautifully hydrated, soft and shiny. Having the name Silk of OIL , you would expect to have a greasy residue left over but in fact the formula is so light that there is no greasy or oily feel left on your hair. Silk Oil of Morocco thermal treatment has the ability to not only protect the hair from high heats but also hydrates and protects the hair from chemical and environmental damage . Who can use it? Medium to thick hair. This product is said to be used on medium to thick hair which for me is perfect as my hair is thick , like really thick . I am not sure why it says only medium to thick but I have seen this used on fine hair and it worked fantastically also , maybe you may be able to enlighten me . How to use - Hold the bottle around 20 centimetres away from the head and spray evenly over dry hair ensuring you give the ends of your hair that much needed attention. Use your heated appliance for styling as you normally would and finish the look by giving the hair a quick spritz to give it a finish shine look. Ingredients- Cyclopentasiloxane, Argania Spinosa Kernel (Argan) Oil*, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Dimethicone, Parfum, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Salicylate, Citronellol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Butylphenyl Metylpropional, Limonene, Linalool. *Certified Organic Free From-
Benefits.
My conclusion-
Price - £19.95 Ok this is a little too much for my liking I have to admit but considering the results of using the product , I would gladly grab another bottle . Packaging- So the bottle is a typical plastic spray bottle and although the brown colour of the bottle does not seem so attractive , I actually love looking at the collection together with the different colour trees on each different range . The spray is fantastic and in fact I wish other brands used this type of spray as the consistency of it is very fine and sprays my hair evenly without wasting too much product. The spray nozzle is also very easy to use and does not spin around when hands are greasy or wet like others mostly do. Scent- To be honest this was the first thing I fell in love about with this product. The amazing scent of passion fruit is amazing and it lasted in my hair through out the full day . What I thought of the product overall- This is definitely a premium hair care product, its certified cold pressed organic Argan oil. I love that they get the Argon from south western Morocco where it grows naturally which means this is excellent quality Argon oil and you get 13% of the active ingredient in the product which is a high amount . Usually I have had to get two separate products - one for thermal protection then the other for shine, I love that this combines them both together so it means less clutter and more savings. Usually sprays like this weigh my hair down but this does not , it leaves a beautiful shine and the spritz is so light I barely feel it . My hair over the years has become very dull and the natural shine has since disappeared , this product has restored that shine to the best it has ever been and I love how my hair looks even just after one use. I use my hair straighteners with an astonishing heat of 210 degrees heat and I know without this product my hair would simply frazzle . This is most definitely the new love heat protection spray I carry in my hair range now. Not only does it leave my hair protected, nourished and looking beautiful but it also restores any previous damages making my hair feel , smell and look fantastic . Have you tried this range , will you? You can find more information on this product and their other products by checking them out here- Silk Of Morroco website It seems the norm now for companies who are famous for one thing , to start making products to support their brand. In this case its GHD, a very well known company known for their hairstraighters and I for one love my GHD's so seen as though my daughter had been given a curling tong for her birthday and I wanted to try them out myself. (The perfect chance as I wanted my hair in curls for the wedding but I was worried as my hair is soo thick I was worried the curls wouldnt last) I went and got the GHD Style Curl Hold Spray.
I thought if its as good as their straighteners it would be fab. It retails at around £12 and not something I would choose lightly for this price , I think its pricey to say the least. Oooooh doesnt it look lovely and stylish, and thats before I try it on my hair. I love the black with the pop of pink and gold. Yes , its a nozel nothing special about that .(still loving the pink) So i prepare my hair and styled my hair , sprayed the GHD spray and it smells gorgeous. With my hair being soo thick , I have struggled to maintain its natural protecion with heat tongs and straighteners so with this having the added benefit of being a 2 in 1 being a hairspray and also having the heat protection in it , its a bonus as I really dont like sticky hairspray and really need the protection. Now I have high expectations as my usual brand is Andrew Collinge as I love there protection and hairsprays, but giving this is a 2 in 1 I had to try it. First of all I love the smell of this, it smells quite musky and I think it would actualy be nice made into a perfume. This is a bonus as alot smell terrible . So you apply a spray to each section of your hair that you are going to curl, I do not like the nozzle it span around whilst I tried to spray it and spat out alover but it isnt a aerosol so I cant complain about that. So I ended up having it really close to my hair to spray it on. I then combed it through and curled my hair as normal . The formula is great, very lightweight and not sticky , infact my hair feels soo soft and smooth its wonderful and once dry its not hard either , my hair feels amazingly silky smooth, love it. They do however need to change the spray nozel its a nightmare . Now to see how it works in the hold side...... Arghhh, sorry but this product has not worked for me, no surprise though I really do struggle to keep a hairstyle held for half hour, it went flat instantly so really isnt a hairspray for me but I most definatly would buy this just as a potection spray as I am actually amazed at how nice it left my hair. Maybe hose with thin hair it may work alot better . Costs - £11.20
Can be bought from - Tangle Teezer Website I have seen so much hype over this on Tangle Teezer Twitter andTangle Teezer Facebook and also in many top Salons . In fact the last time I went to Loreal Professionnel Salon , they used this on my hair whilst dry and wet . I asked the lady doing my hair what she thought of the Tangle teezer , ''I swear by it, I have one myself , its perfect for detangling your hair especially if its easy knotted and thick'' Because I was colouring my hair in blondest highlights she also advised me to get one , she said blonde dyed hair seems to knot easier. I wanted to know what was so different compared to other brushes, because I have spent so much on trying to find the one brush that does not take out half my hair whilst brushing especially when I wake in the morning at its tattiest. I find myself sitting for 20 minutes each morning going through my hair finding so many clumps in my standard brush , it can be worrying . My hair is long and thick and unless I wash it daily which I hate doing as I don't want to damage my hair , it is so hard to tame just with the simplest of tasks. Here is the inventor Paul Pulfrey and his story on how the Tangle Teezer came to life Tangle Teezer Story The Tangle Teezer is shaped to fit the palm of your hand ensuring you have the perfect grip . I have the purple crush and its a fabulous colour, my favourite colour in fact and they come in all colours . It is designed to detangle your hair both wet and dry without pulling or splitting your hair . In our family we have myself and three girls with long blonde hair so I know the torture of tangled hair so this invention is a miracle for us. For example I washed my hair last week and misplaced my teezer (later to be found in my 3yr old sons toy box ) , and I had to use my normal standard hairbrush. My hair was wet and I ended up passing the brush to my husband so he could brush my hair as it was just ripping my hair out in clumps, my arms were aching like mad and it just made me feel like it was taking forever not getting me anywhere. As soon as I brushed one area of my hair the part I brushed before that tangled again in seconds , I just wanted to shave the lot of. My hair is my most unloved feature because of how much time I spend brushing, drying, styling ect, I suppose that's why I tend to hide it under Annabelles wigs alot of the time. I first tried this brush on my wigs thinking it would be gentle enough for them , wow what a difference. The clumps that would usually be pulled from my head onto the standard brush was minimal on the teezer , soo much in fact there were only one or two . had no pulling or getting my hair stuck in the knots and as the husband told me to look in the mirror , to my surprise no frizz either which I always get when its been washed then brushed straight after drying, especially considering this is made of plastic , I have to be honest it surprised me. I now use my Tangle Teezer everyday. I carry it in my handbag everywhere I go as it is soo easy to use and my daughters use it also . My 6yr old has hair like me ,thick and tats easily ,and we all know how young girls at that age hate having their hair brushed when its tatty, using this reduces those tears and snapping of her gorgeous long blonde hair so it has also made my days better and less stressful on my children too. Overall I love this invention and would recomend it to anyone . DISCLAIMER: I am not paid to do this post.
