Ok , being mum to 7 can give you a headaches just thinking about it but for me, I actually rarely get them but when I do its bad. I am continuously battling with aches and pains but having bad anxiety , I have a phobia of taking any type of medication, I simply refuse and am scared to take any form of medicine need it be liquid, tablet or even injections . I am not quite sure where it all stemmed from but I have been like that for over 3 years now and although there have been times when I have had to take medicine, I simply have not but my own body has healed itself and become better on its own. There is something that I can use though and lately it has become useful especially as the colder days are here and headaches become more and more frequent. ''Oi You Throbhead'' ''Oi You Throbhead'' is one of Anatomicals products that I have been using lately , not just me , my husband also , and it is now in my handbag to take with me where ever I go. Who are Anatomicals? Anatomicals are a company who sell products that are animal friendly and paraben free, they only want what is natural for your body and their products have the quirkiest catch phrase titles that make you chuckle a little . What do they say about Oi You Throbhead? To add insult (although we see ‘throbhead’ of more of a condition than an insult to injury), you’ve also got a jolting pain. Rub this balm into your temples, if you don’t you’re a blithering ignoramus, now that’s an insult!” With this magic potion of essential oils and extracts they promise to untie all the knots filling up your throbbing head. The only thing that you need from a headache is relief and instantly, ''Oi You Throbhead'' gives exactly that because it is cooling the relief is effective as soon as it is applied to the head due to the menthal crystals and mint . The lavender balances out the cooling mint by giving you the sense of calmness and relaxation and Eucalyptus helps stimulation and refreshes the senses . How to use - You only need a small amount for the balm to take immediate effect so rub a small amount on the forehead, temples and back of the neck , take a deep breath and relax while ''Oi You Throbhead'' works its magic. Caution - Ensure you avoid the eye area and damaged skin . Ingredients - Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Golden Yellow Beeswax, Peppermint Oil, Lavender Oil, Eucalyptus Oil, Mandarin Oil, Sandalwood Oil, Rosehip Extract & Calendula Extract. Fragrance, CI19140, CI15985 Cost - £5.00 Where to buy - Anatomicals First of all I have to admit that my husband was the first to try this out and I had to laugh when he applied it and started telling me that it was burning him . That was not the case as he slowley relaxed within 2 minutes after application and realised it was in fact the menthal cooling ingredient in the product that actually eased the headache he had been struggling to fix with multiple paracetamol tablets he had been taking previously with no effect. Having stopped laughing at his first experience with menthal ingredients in a beauty balm , I then decided I would give it a go also . For me the little tins are adorable and perfect for reusing once emptied for those other things such as making a handy homemade lip balm for the children or even taking a small amount of vaseline from the big tubs and using the tub as a handy take out . I like that it has a funny catch line to the product to read on opening it to introduce you to what the product is . I have had some products from different brands that use a similar tin packaging and have found it very difficult to remove the lid without snapping a few of the nails I had been trying to grow for months previously but this is secure enough to stay on and easily removed without stressing you out any more than you need to . This product is much more caring than the 4head stick that my mum in law applied to my daughter when she had a headache, honestly , the 4head stick stung her eyes it was that strong and we had to remove it straight away as the vapour was more like a vix vapour rub than a relaxing headache relief balm. Luckily this is more friendly and you do not feel like your being blinded or have a strong mint aroma that gives you even more a headache, it soothes and relaxes you exactly like it says it does. Being a balm, I expected that it would be oily but to be honest it is not as oily as I thought and although it glides on the skin like an oil it actually soaks in and dries up completely , which to me is fantastic as it means the extra oil is not going to bring me out in spots and blemishes .
The scent is fresh and once it is applied it actually settles nicely and wears down a little , the only thing you get is a slight menthol scent which is not over bearing but enough to still awaken you . I did find this to me more effective than of those who had tried it and paired it with tablets on blog reviews I had read previously but Like I said I am scared of taking tablets and so it is not an option at all for me . The headache I had was eased dramatically , my head still had that tight feeling from the headache but the pain was dramatically reduced and I did feel relieved which was fantastic . So now that my whole family has given this a go , I can clearly agree that it is one of out family ailments that is not harmful and safe for all. No more need for taking paracetamol or Nurofen for our headaches, we simply add this and sit back with a hot warm cocoa . So what do you think, will you, have you gave it a go, let me know in the comments or tweet me over at @Lisasbeauties

So for some of you , you may be wondering why I am doing a post in the middle of winter on Self tan, especially as most of us are covered up in jogger bottoms and jeans . I hear you I honestly do, but for others like me , I actually love to use self tan in the winter because it helps me to look healthier as I go paler than white and to me it makes me look quite poorly . I also love the look of a healthy looking tan in winter not only when I may wear the odd skirt or dress at special occasions but also at home with my snow-boot slippers and long wooly jumpers I tend to wear quite often . As you can see my legs really are milky white and being mum of 7 I neither have the time nor money to visit salons especially near Christmas with so much to do. Sunkissed have been selling bronzing beauty products since 2005 and pride themselves on supplying fantastic products , I actually own their face powder bronzer and exfoliating tan remover and tanning mitt and have always been pleased with their range. You can see some pretty amazing gift sets that are affordable and that would be ideal for your lady friends and family over on their site here. So today I am sharing with you my thoughts on the Sunkissed Medium self tan mousse which is only priced at £4.99. What they say about it- The SUNKISSED Self-tan Mousse 200ml, delivers an instant natural bronze tan that smells divine and lasts for up to 5 days. The easy to apply, lightweight foam formulation absorbs and dries quickly on the skin, whilst moisturising ingredients Aloe Vera and Glycerin leave it feeling smooth and hydrated. The Medium Bronze mousse is perfect for fair to medium skin giving you a deep golden glow. Kind to skin this dermatologically approved formula contains no parabens or alcohol. For a perfect streak free finish everytime we recommend using theSunkissed Application mitt , and why not try the Sunkissed Gradual Tanning Lotion in Light Bronze between applications to keep your tan topped up and your skin beautifully moisturised. Ingredients - AQUA (WATER), DIHYDROXYACETONE, GLYCERIN, BIS-PEG/PPG-20/20 DIMETHICONE, DECYL GLUCOSIDE, POLYSORBATE 20, PHENOXYETHANOL, AMMONIUM LAURYL SULFATE, PARFUM (FRAGRANCE), IMIDAZOLIDINYL UREA, ALOE BARBADENSIS (ALOE VERA) LEAF EXTRACT, CITRIC ACID, LINALOOL, SODIUM BENZOATE, POTASSIUM SORBATE, CI 19140 (YELLOW NO 5), CI 16035 (RED 40), CI 42090 (BLUE NO 1) In the picture below , you can see that the mousse is very bubbly like and very light . Being such a fantastic consistency , this means that if you have hair stubble or hairs on the skin, the mousse with work around them meaning that you won't get those darker spots in the pores and using the mitt that you can get from them is a great way to get that even shade all over which I also love as I now do not have to worry about staining on my hands. For me, I wanted to test this without moisturising or anything and so I prepped the skin the night before by exfoliating and removing hairs and ensuring that I had no moisturiser or dirt on my legs for the application the day afterwards hence why my skin looks so dry. To me this was the true test of the self tan, I wanted to ensure that if I was in a hurry , my skin would be able to hold the tan and not turn patchy where dry areas of my skin were and here is the first application result. As you can see, the mousse gave a very lovely shade on the skin , natural and not orange as some other brands may give . My pores on my skin are lifted due to the cold weather but as you can see , there is no sign of imbedded excess self tan which to me is a fantastic sign. Considering I had no moisturiser on my skin at all this tan went on very even and I had no streaks or patches in sight. I was very pleased , especially as I then decided to do my other leg to get the matching pair, I would have looked rather silly If I had left them because of the difference . I do think that using the mitt is advisable , there is nothing pretty or discreate about self tan when you have orange stained hands and to me it just seems sensible . The mitts are very inexpensive and are also easily reusable , I have shown a picture here of what a used mitt looks like on the left and on the right is a mitt that has been washed immediately after use , spotless. All I used was a little soap in the skin and rinsed it well , left it on the radiator to dry and placed it back in my self tan supply box ready to use again the next time. The scent of self tans to me can sometimes knock me sick, you can smell the strong aroma and I for one hate it so end up washing it off to get rid of it which also means no more self tan. Fortunately the Sunkissed Medium Mousse has a delightful scent which is not dreadful at all and is quite appealing. The aroma is lovely and sweet and reminds me of butter cream fudge . Very pleasant and subtle as it wears down during the course of wearing it. So there you have it , the results of using Sunkissed bronzing mousse has been a result and I would give it full marks for how well it lasted on my legs as well as the even wear off which I sometimes regret .
I would love to know if you have tried this or if you are willing to , let me know what you think ? Ok when Beauty Crowd asked me to try the YOSO Compact , I had no idea what to expect. At first I thought it was a makeup palette compact of some sort but after looking around for some information I found it on their site and boy was I wrong. Who are YOSO? YOSO beauty are a new range that was released on 6th November. The YOSO Pro was the first product they released in the UK and now there are a few more products now ready for you to enjoy such as the YOSO Compact, YOSO heated lash curler and even a YOSO trimmer . Maxell is a Japanese electric company and YOSO are now working with them to provide their beauty knowledge to bring you the new generation of easy beauty . Over the winter my skin tends to turn very dry , which then in turn makes it very sensitive and tight which can be painful at times . YOSO compact is one of the products that is currently helping me to prepare my skin for the colder weathers and no it is not a cream or serum, it is an Ionic skincare product than can be used anywhere at anytime . What is Ionic skincare - The whole idea of the Ionic skin care technology is that by using positive and negatively charged ions through electrical charges, it then helps to draw out impurities, create skin balance and restore moisture. Ions help to cleanse and moisturise skin and boost the effects of lotions using fine vibrations and gentle rotations. Having Ion technology help my daily moisturiser, cleanser and toner work more efficiently is something that I welcome with open arms , less work for me and more effective on my skin . So let us take a closer look at the YOSO compact - What do they say about it? ''The YOSO COMPACT is a quick and easy process which lasts 3 minutes, and has four different levels, which ensures that the deep cleanse can be tailored to each skin type and sensitivity. Using your regular cleanser or toner and our exciting Ion technology, built up daily dirt can be extracted from deep within your pores, leaving skin feeling clean and looking fresh. In each box you get a booklet for instructions and the handheld compact itself. The device does take two AAA batteries which are not provided but I always prefer to buy my own batteries anyway to ensure they don't leak or last only 1 use . The YOSO compact can be bought from BeautyCrowd.com for the price of £59.99 and is available worldwide. The YOSO compact is very handy and in my opinion is perfect for those bedside tables or taking away with you . The sparkly cover gives it that feminine touch , us ladies all love glitter and shine don't we? On the back , the instructions are there easily displayed for you to see . Directions-
Using this ensures all those cells are being therapeutically massaged , the negative ions will ensure that the dirt is lifted on to the cotton pad and most of all for me , I will not have dead skin cells which would normally appear flaking from rubbing my hands when I apply my facial moisturisers . My thoughts-
I was very confused I have to admit. On first placing the batteries in and turning it on , nothing seemed to happen except the lights and the beep coming from the compact itself. I did not know if anything was working or not , there was no vibrations that I could feel from the rubber head but having removed all of my makeup before hand from my face I was shocked to find dirt which had been collected on the cotton pad afterwards. It had obviously been working after all and the negative ion reaction with the cotton pad had lifted that extra dirt from my skin that I thought I had already removed . I actually felt a little disgusted in thinking that I must have not been removing all of the dirt from my skin as thoroughly as I had previously thought and so seeing this in front of my eyes made me realise that this YOSO compact was in fact my new skin saver and from now on is used daily to ensure that it was in the future been done properly. I have also been using this for applying my facial skin care creams and have to admit also that this has worked in my favour in various ways . Since using this YOSO compact , the two big changes that I have seen and felt happen are that I have reduced the pulling of the skin which I would normally do applying my moisturiser and also the skin care products are working into my skin more effectively leaving my skin less dry in areas which I suffer most with , helping a lot as it eases my winter skin which would normally become irritated and tight. I am so happy to have this in my new daily regime and would recommend this to anyone wanting to better their skin . What do you think about the YOSO compact , will you be giving it a go ? I have been telling you recently that the one thing I forget to use on my face is toner and now I can honestly tell you that things have changed. For the past couple of weeks, I have been using a new skin care range which I thought you may be interested in. Safa They sent me two products to try out
So who are Safa? Safa are a UK based brand who are based in Manchester . Safa believe in using only natural products and they are Organic, Vegan and even Halal certified. Their are no chemicals or nasties to be found in their products so only the kindest of ingredients will be used to ensure no damage is going to be done to your skin, leaving it fresh and unharmed . I have very sensitive skin which only seems to happen during the winter months, my skin becomes very dry and tight and eventually sore so during the winter , I have to pay special attention to my face , trying not to irritate it with chemicals and protect it against reoccurring irritations. Safa ensure that all of their products are organic and Halal and all of the products combine essential oils with organic extracts to produce quality and purpose with the two clear messages of Organic and Halal approval to confirm the true value of the products. They also believe that their key identity is the belief that true beauty and the purity in life comes from nature and its creator, whoever you believe the creator to be. Organic and Pure, they already had me wanting more. First of all , I want to share with you my honest opinions so first up I will talk about the Facial Toner- What the toner does - Safa facial toner is specially formulated with cucumber , aloe and green tea extracts to gently revitalise your skin and allow it to breath easier. It will lift away the remaining traces of dirt and makeup helping your skin to look and feel younger. Ingredients- AQUA, HAMAMELIS VIRGINIANA LEAF WATER, CAMELLIA SINENSIS LEAF EXTRACT, CUCUMIS SATIVUS FRUIT EXTRACT, POTASSIUM SORBATE, SODIUM BENZOATE, ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE POWDER, CITRIC ACID, ASCORBIC ACID, GLYCERIN Directions - Apply to cotton wool and sweep gently over the face and neck area. Take special care on age- prone and sensitive areas. Allow drying and follow with Safa Daily moisturiser. My thoughts- My first impressions was that the toner had that discoloured water tone to it , now that is not a bad thing , least we know it is natural right? The scent was very organic like , some times I am not a fan of strong smelling natural scents in products like this but it was not strong and It was quite pleasant compared to other products . For me the toner is needed on my forehead mostly, I have those lines that seem to appear more as I grow with age , only faint but visible to me enough to make me wary, I did not see a difference with reduction in them after one week but maybe if Ii keep trying it , it will help a little more. The Facial toner was easy to apply though and it did leave my skin feeling very fresh and clean and once it dried into my skin (which did not take long with my thirsty cells) it left my skin feeling very smooth . I was worried that this toner would leave my skin feeling dry , too tight and irritated but in fact even with my sensitive winter skin , it has done the opposite. My skin felt eased . The dry skin on my forehead and around the nose area have appeared to repair which I am very pleased about after using this product which makes my applying my makeup a lot flawless. The next thing I tried was the Daily Moisturiser. What the Daily Moisturiser does- Safa Daily Moisturiser is specially formulated with organic Shea Butter , Argan Oil and Borage Seed Oil to lightly keep your skin replenished and hydrated. After application , your skin will feel soft and look regenerated . Ingredients- AQUA, CETEARYL GLUCOSIDE, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII BUTTER , COCUS NUCIFERA OIL, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, GLYCERYL STEARATE, ARGANIA SPINOSA KERNEL OIL, BORAGO OFFICINALIS SEED OIL, XANTHAN GUM, LAVANDULA ANGUSTIFOLIA OIL, POTASSIUM SORBATE, SODIUM BENZOATE, ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE POWDER Directions- Smooth gently onto your face and neck area using an upwards and outward motion taking special care on age-prone areas. Ideally use in the morning before makeup. My thoughts- Now I have to admit , this is my favourite of the two products. creams for me have to be thick in texture, I hate nothing more than milk like , think creams, my skin hates them and in fact feel even more irritated than with a nice thick cream. This daily moisturiser is not thin , it is more in between , heading towards a thick cream but not quite there but for the face it is. The cream glides on the skin easily , the only thing I am not keen on is the stronger organic scent this has compared to the Facial Toner . I have to be honest in the fact I do not like heavily scented products on my face unless it is fruity and fresh but the cream soaks in quickly to my skin and the aroma softens quickly. I have been using this for a week now , my skin is feeling so smooth and dry areas which I have struggled with for years has in fact reduced . In the summer my skin is very oily and I do think this is going to be just as good for my skin then too as it leaves no oily residue or excess. I love this cream and having been certified by the Muslims board for Halal , I would be sure that my friend, next door neighbour would be greatful for this . This moisturiser gives a lovely glow to my face without making it look oily . For me , finding a face care range that is organic and natural , always gives me that little bit more satisfaction in using.
I would love to know if you would try this product or have done and what your thoughts are on it. This is one of those posts where the boys may want to stay clear of as it is all about The Time Of The Month or to those who may not be clear on that, PERIODS. Periods are something all woman will go through eventually , Some go through it earlier than others and in my own experiences it has not been as bad as we may have thought before starting them although some people are effected in different ways. What is a period? A period is our bodies way of telling us that we have turned into a woman and by doing so it prepares our body to produce more of our kind for when and if we ever feel ready enough to do so. Every month a new membrane lining is formed in the Uterus and some time around half way through your monthly cycle , an egg also known as the Ovum will be released from your ovaries. A monthly cycle usually lasts around 28 days . Pregnancy occurs when the Ovum is fertilised by a sperm which is produced from the male of the species but if there is no fertilisation , then the Uterus will bleed and start to get rid of the un-needed membrane and exit the vagina This is what is called a period. This usually occurs around 14 days into the monthly cycle and can last from anywhere between 3-8 days , some people have different cycles meaning they have shorter or longer periods than others . Every female will have one at some point in their lives , most every month for years and years to come and although it is most definitely annoying at times having to deal with periods , it is healthy for our bodies and helps to rinse your body from the membranes, particles and any fluids that may have formed in the uterus. How can we get through our period - Do not worry- First of all , do not worry, it is perfectly normal and it happens to us all . Stomach cramps- Some people suffer with what is called stomach cramps (stomach ache) , again nothing to worry about , this is just your uterus contracting and cleansing itself . The best way to deal with this is by ejoying a nice soak in a hot bath or if you do not feel up to it , use a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel and lay it on your stomach . There are other ways to deal with it or reduce the cramps. Some people find that mild exercise such as swimming or even just a walk can help , this can also reduce the time of your period . Eating well- Prior to every period , my cravings urge me to eat things such as chocolate and salty snacks but try to avoid them as much as possible , instead try to incorporate fruits into your diet especially high potassium food such as bananas. Be prepared - Before your period is due , you may be best to wear dark clothing just in case it comes early as it can sometimes happen. Always carry a sanitary towel or tampon in your handbag and a pair of spare pants just in case . Make a note in your diary . Stay clean - Always ensure you change your sanitary towel or tampon regular. Ensure you take regular showers and carry wipes with you if you venture out to stay clean. Wearing tampons, sanitary towels or panty liners - All products available to help you get through your periods are available in most stores in many different shapes and sizes for light and heavy periods. I for one never go to the shop, instead I send my husband or buy them on line . What is the difference ? Panty liners- If you have a light period or daily vaginal discharge , I would recommend using a Panty liner . These are thinner and more narrower than the sanitary pads and these are worn by placing them inside the gusset of your pants . Sanitary towel or pad- A sanitary towel is worn during your period . Sanitary towels are thicker and wider and can be bought with what are called wings (not the type that fly) but the type that wrap around the gusset of the pant to secure in place ensuring their is no movement to catch the menstrual blood and absorb causing you less discomfort during your period. You can get them for during the day and also night time which are a little thinner due to the fact that because you are lying down , gravity helps to stop the menstrual bleed from being released as much. Non Applicator tampons- Applicators or tampons as you may have heard them as is a cylindrical mass of absorbent material. Tampons are designed to be easily inserted into the vagina during menstruation and absorb the ladies menstrual flow. You can get them in many sizes . Non applicators come without a sleeve and have to be inserted into the vagina by gently pushing it up leaving the pull string outside of the vagina enabling you to take it out for regular change . Always ensure you clean your hands before and afterwards to reduce any risk of infection. Applicator tampons- These are very similar to Non applicator tampons except these have a sleeve which guide the tampon into the vagina without the need of inserting it manually. The sleeve is made from very thin cardboard most of the time but sometimes a very thin plastic . The tampon is placed at the entrance of the vagina and you then push the end which has a string attached until it is completely inserted inside the vagina leaving the string hanging outside of the vagina. The sleeve ensures the tampon is inserted correctly . You must ensure you wash your hands before and afterwards to reduce any risk of infection. If you are just starting your period I would recommend a sanitary towel , I a 31 years old and still use them , I rarely use an applicator unless I am going swimming . Having to deal with periods now for 20 years, I have got to be honest in saying that there are many different brands out there but one stands out like no other and that is TOTM - Short for , (you guessed it) Time Of The Month! Who are TOTM? TOTM are a female menstrual product brand that supply you with panty liners, sanitary pads, applicators and non applicators . For me, I like to know that my sanitary towel is secure and the sticky side of the towel that sticks to the gusset of the pant has to be strong and hold well. TOTM towels have a great hold on the pant and I have had no issues with them moving away from the pant while moving around. The sanitary wear is discreet just like it says and I have had no feeling or fear of over leakage or spills . I felt comfortable wearing the products, I had in fact completely forgot I was wearing one at one point it as I could not even feel it . Just showed me how natural they felt on the skin.
